The patagonia Women's Capilene Cool Ultra Hoodie is an ultralight long-sleeve technical piece made for high-sweat activity and moving in the heat.
It weighs just 96g. The thin 100% recycled polyester fabric uses a honeycomb structure so heat and moisture are less likely to build up inside it, encouraging airflow and fast drying.
You sweat hard on trail runs and hikes, but you still want to keep your arms and neck covered. In hot-weather activity, this hoodie is an alternative to short sleeves.
A honeycomb structure that releases heat and moisture
The fabric is a 2.2oz 100% recycled polyester textured knit. The raised honeycomb structure raises breathability, with the emphasis on moving the heat and moisture generated during exercise out quickly.
patagonia positions Capilene Cool Ultra as its lightest, fastest-drying technical tee. It is a fabric built for situations where you keep sweating — climbs on hot days, running.
The fabric is treated with MiDori bioSoft to add wicking and softness, so it stays comfortable to move in even when wet with sweat.
Long sleeves and a hood to adjust how much skin is covered
Along with long sleeves, it has a panelled hood shaped to follow the head. The hood fastens with a button at the neck, so you can cover your head and neck when you want to.
Low-bulk thumb loops at the cuffs keep the sleeves from riding up as you move your arms.
You want long sleeves through the strong-sun season, but heavier fabric gets hot. This is a layer that prioritises being as light as possible, breathable and quick to dry.
Construction made for sweating and moving
Set-in sleeves are combined with gusseted armholes for a pattern that lets you move your arms freely.
Seams are flatlock, keeping the profile low. That reduces the seam friction that becomes noticeable when your skin is wet with sweat or you are out for long hours.
There is no tag at the neckline, keeping the parts that touch your skin as simple as possible.
HeiQ Mint odour control
The fabric carries HeiQ Mint odour control, intended to hold down the odour that becomes noticeable in high-sweat activity.
A hang loop for drying is also included — useful on trips and in the mountains, where you wash and dry a piece repeatedly as you use it.

The Capilene Cool Ultra Hoodie is not a long-sleeve piece for warmth. It is long-sleeve wear built on the assumption that you will be moving hard in the heat.
Running trail, walking for hours while gaining elevation, moving under a pack. When you keep sweating through all of that and want more coverage than a short sleeve without the garment itself adding heat or wetness, this is worth considering.
