A length that bridges running and everyday life, with a supple hand
HERENESS SUGARCANE SHORTS (WOMEN) are women's running shorts made from a composite material containing 18% sugarcane-derived polyester. A supple-feeling fabric and a minimal design are paired with side pockets for keys or a card and a hip pocket that takes a smartphone, so they sit naturally in both daily running and everyday wear. The length is easy to work into ordinary clothes while still securing the freedom of movement you want when you run.
Thinking on length, and the pocket layout
There are trends and opinions about how long shorts should be; the HERENESS proposal is "a length that handles daily running fully and suits everyday life". What you carry is split between the sides and the back. The side pockets are handy for keys or a card when heading out nearby. A smartphone is meant for the hip pocket at the back, where the vertical zip gives a wide opening and makes it easy to get in and out. The placement helps keep movement down while running, so carrying things does not become a nuisance.
Material and sustainability — the stretch you need, without spandex
The fabric is 100% polyester, 18% of it sugarcane-derived. In sportswear it has long been standard to blend in spandex (polyurethane) to get stretch, but its high environmental burden and its tendency to degrade within two or three years are problems. These shorts secure the stretch they need without spandex. HERENESS is pursuing "NO SPANDEX / LESS SPANDEX" across its product making as a whole.
