Fixed-Length Folding Carbon Poles for Trail and Ultra Running
The SkyRunner Edge (CARBON) is a fixed-length, folding running pole from Mountain King of the UK. The shaft uses a reinforced layup of Toray 800 carbon fibre, giving the slim, straight cylindrical shaft both the stiffness it needs and a low weight. At 133–138 g including the glove depending on size, it adds little to what you carry, which suits the rhythm of trail and ultra running where poles are deployed and stowed repeatedly on the move.
Edge Glove and Edge Clip for Quick Release and Re-Attachment
An integrated grip system, the Edge Glove, is included. It uses a high-density 3D spacer fabric with a breathable mesh strap designed to sit comfortably on the hand. The UK-designed Edge Clip system lets you attach and release the glove from the pole in a single action. That makes it easier to change your hold when your hands are busy — on climbs and descents, or at aid stations — and helps you keep transferring power to the pole consistently. The grip body itself is EVA foam, which stays easy to hold in sweat or rain.
Carbon Shaft and Tungsten Carbide Tip
The reinforced Toray 800 carbon layup underpins the bending stiffness and durability of the shaft. A tungsten carbide tip at the business end bites into dirt and rock on the trail. Rubber ferrules are also included for paved sections and for travel.
Folding Handling and Portability
Although fixed in length, the folding design means you can collapse the poles quickly and carry them through sections where you do not need them. The 100 and 105 cm sizes fold into three sections; the 110, 115 and 120 cm sizes fold into four. Packed length starts at 37 cm, so they stow easily in a pack side pocket or under front bungee cord. A ripstop carry bag is included.
Choosing a Length, and Colours
Lengths are designed to be chosen at roughly 60–65% of your height. Because the poles are fixed length, pick the length closest to the balance you want between flat ground and climbs and descents, and to your own preference in form. There is no gendered sizing; the poles are unisex. The colour is set by size (there is no choice of multiple colours within a single size).
