A 33mm trail shoe with the same cushion volume and a lighter, softer foam

The ALTRA OLYMPUS 7 Women's is a trail shoe that pairs a 33mm Altra EGO™ MAX midsole with a Vibram® Megagrip with TractionLug™ outsole. It carries over the 0mm drop and the wide last of Original FootShape™ while revising the midsole weight, the upper reinforcement, and the structure of the tongue and collar.

The main uses are trail running, long trail running and hiking. Cushion thickness, an outsole that also handles wet ground, and a forefoot where the toes can move combine into a platform for moving in the mountains over a long time.

The updated EGO™ MAX is 15% lighter and 10% softer

The Altra EGO™ MAX midsole is 15% lighter and 10% softer than the previous generation. The stack height stays at 33mm, so the weight was not simply cut by removing foam; the material itself has been updated.

Thick foam absorbs impact at footstrike and eases the load that reaches the sole of the foot again and again over a long run or walk. The weight reduction holds down overall weight underfoot while keeping the cushioning.

Megagrip and TractionLug™ handle wet rock through dry dirt

The outsole uses Vibram® Megagrip. It is a rubber made to find friction on both wet and dry surfaces, and the TractionLug™ shape adds contact edges around the lugs.

It secures grip under a thick midsole and transfers force to the ground when pushing off on climbs and braking on descents. It is a setup that supports contact from the outsole side on trails where rock, scree and dirt follow one another.

More cushioning at the tongue and collar to support the top of the foot

The OLYMPUS 7 adds volume to the tongue, spreading lace pressure widely across the instep. The collar uses a one-piece comfort design, updated into a shape that wraps around the heel.

Over long hours of wear, repeated contact happens not only underfoot but around the instep and heel. Cushioning has been given to those contact surfaces as well, tuning hold and feel against the foot.

TPU reinforcement added to a breathable mesh

The upper is an engineered mesh with a structure that lets air through. Molded TPU overlays are added where the shoe takes impact from rock and roots, supplying the protection and durability that mesh alone lacks.

Original FootShape™ leaves room at the toes and midfoot

The FootShape™ is Original. Within the ALTRA line it takes the most room at the forefoot and midfoot, a shape where the toes spread easily. Room is left at the front even when the foot swells over a long day.

The drop is 0mm, keeping the heel and forefoot at the same height. Using 33mm of cushioning while keeping a foot position with no fore-aft slope is the basic setup of the OLYMPUS 7.
