A Hooded Base Layer Balancing Warmth and Breathability for Cold-Weather Activity

The GRID-TEC+ Hoodie Thumbhole & Watchhole is a hooded base layer built for cold outdoor conditions. Grid-structured brushed fleece on the inner face gives you warmth the moment you put it on, and the air layer formed against your skin helps hold onto heat. At the same time it releases excess moisture, curbing sweat-related clamminess and chill for a comfortable feel through activity. The pared-down, minimal design works as a unisex piece.

Fabric and Feel: Brushed-Grid Fleece Plus Recycled Polyester

The grid-shaped brushed face on the inside boosts warmth, while the channels in the grid structure help moisture find its way out. The fabric is a micro-type recycled polyester yarn chosen for its lower environmental impact. It's light with a soft hand feel, and its reduced thickness keeps bulk down even when layered, making it easy to wear under other pieces. The high stretch follows your body through reaching and bending movements. Anti-static performance curbs the static that builds up in dry conditions, easing the stress of putting layers on and taking them off, and anti-bacterial, anti-odor performance keeps unpleasant odors down over multiple days of wear.

A 5-Panel Hood for a Better Fit

Changed from a 2-panel to a 5-panel construction compared with the previous model, the hood now fits the head more closely. Separating the balaclava-style hood from the mouth section eases tightness around the mouth while making it easier to put on and take off. The shape holds onto warm air well, adding effective warmth from the neck up through the head.

Thumbhole and Watchhole: Wind Protection and Access at the Wrist

The cuffs fold back the grid-brushed face into a thumbhole that covers the back of the hand to block cold wind. The thumbhole design is modeled on military inner layers, with the idea of layering against the cold drawn from US military cold-weather gear. A slit is also set into the cuff so you can check your watch without pushing the sleeve up, which makes it easy to handle in scenes like running or fishing where you're checking the time or using your hands often without having to stop what you're doing.

Series Background

GRID-TEC+ carries on the craftsmanship developed under GOOD FAR's predecessor, B.V.D., as a series built to support people who enjoy the outdoors. It's designed to balance the warmth and breathability a base layer needs through its material, construction, and details together.

Sizing Reference

Unisex fit. As a reference, one sample was worn at height 186.5cm in size XL. Size availability differs by color: Dark Grey and Navy go up to 2XL, while Khaki, Off White, and Orange go up to XL.
