Trail Bum has released a backpack made of ultra-high-strength Ultra fabric. It has a cylindrical body with an extension part and a top roll type, and a mesh pocket that covers it.
Ultra is a fabric made of UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber), which has excellent abrasion and impact resistance. UHMWPE is an abbreviation for "Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene" and is a chemical fiber commonly known as ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene or Dyneema in Japanese. When it comes to Dyneema, the most representative fabric is DCF, but I would like to explain the differences between them.
First, Ultra has the advantage of being about three times stronger than DCF in tear strength and seven times stronger in abrasion resistance. However, because of its high strength, DCF has the advantage in weight. However, the strength of the film on the back side is also much stronger than DCF, so Ultra is more durable in terms of the delamination peeling over time, which is a disadvantage of DCF.
The thickness of the Ultra is changed between the bottom part, which wears easily, and the main body. The straps and waist part are made of Spectra material. The back is equipped with a removable pad, which is lightweight and comfortable to wear.
There are pockets on the front and sides, which are useful for storing drinks, small items, shells, etc. The capacity ranges from 35L to 43L, and the so-called baby turtle part alone has a capacity of 8L, so you don't have to worry even if your luggage increases.
The elastic band around the mesh pocket is quite long, which is because it is designed to hold a sleeping mat vertically. This is one of TRAIL BUM's special features.
While it was conceived with the premise of being simple and without unnecessary elements, it has been designed with a padded belt around the waist as a spine-hiker's interpretation, making it a product that really hits the spot!
The top has a roll closure, and buckles can be added to either side (sold separately).
