Cold weather clothing worn over a shell
When taking a break or stopping in the snowy mountains, removing your shell and putting on a midlayer can quickly chill your body. So what do you do? TETON BROS.'s approach is to keep your shell on and layer a cold-weather jacket over it. This synthetic insulation is designed for such situations. It's one size larger to layer over a shell. The cuffs zip open, making it easy to put on with gloves on. The down-like PrimaLoft ThermoPlume padding is a blend of aerogel for superior insulation. The outer fabric is HPPE (high-performance polyethylene) ripstop for durability. The lining is 10-denier Cordura, a highly visible orange color that makes it easy to spot in an emergency. Since it's sometimes worn over a wet shell, it's water-repellent on both sides. This is a TETON BROS. staple that staff and guides always keep in their backpacks.
Hood Structure

The large-capacity hood can be adjusted with one action, and fits both with and without a helmet.
Large pocket

The large-capacity waist pocket can be used as a hand warmer by simply opening it from the bottom as needed, effectively keeping cold hands warm without letting warm air escape.
Cuff specifications

The cuffs are equipped with zippers so that you can put your sleeves on while wearing gloves. The half-lock slider can be locked by tilting the slider upwards, making it suitable for gloves of all sizes. The inner rib structure provides a flat fit around the wrist and prevents cold air from entering.
Inner pocket

The large mesh pockets can hold gloves and climbing skins, and wet items can be carried while drying with body heat.
Double Slider

The front zipper has a double slider, making it compatible with climbing harnesses.
lining

The lining is made of 10-denier Cordura. Because it may be worn over a wet shell, the lining is also water-repellent. It's orange, making it highly visible, and can be turned inside out to serve as a marker in an emergency.
HPPE

This thin, lightweight fabric is made from 88% recycled nylon and 12% high-strength polyethylene (HPPE) ripstop. While a tear strength of 10 Newtons (N) is generally considered sufficient for 20 denier fabric, this material achieves a tear strength of over 40N. High-strength polyethylene is extremely difficult to manufacture, and while it was clear that its use could result in high-strength fabrics, commercialization proved extremely difficult. After much trial and error, a domestic material manufacturer perfected "HPPE," and TETON BROS. was one of the first to adopt it and commercialize it.
