A light, heat-releasing Octa®CPCP® liner sleeping bag (Short)

The STATIC ADRIFT LINER is a liner sleeping bag made with Octa®CPCP®, a lightweight mesh fleece. The Short is about 210g with a length of about 160cm. In summer it works as a standalone thin sleeping bag substitute, and in winter it slides inside a down sleeping bag to add warmth.

How the Octa®CPCP® mesh fleece works

Octa®CPCP® is a mesh fleece that integrates an irregular cross-section, hollow polyester brushed fiber into a mesh face fabric. The fibers are hollow with eight ridges around them, and the dead air formed in the hollow cores and around the ridges holds back heat loss from the body. At the same time, the mesh structure lets heat and moisture escape easily, which helps with cooling down after activity and keeping humidity down while you sleep. The fiber itself is also lightweight — about half the mass of a regular polyester fiber of the same diameter — bringing lightness, warmth, and quick-drying together in one fabric.

How to use it by season

  • Summer: Use it on its own. High breathability and quick-drying keep heat from building up even in sweaty conditions.
  • Winter: Slide it inside your own down sleeping bag to add an air layer around your body and boost warmth.

Environmental efforts

  • 53% of the fabric is recycled polyester (since fall/winter 2023). Compared to virgin polyester Octa®CPCP®, this cuts CO2 emissions during fabric production by 23% (calculated by Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd.).
  • Produced at an OEKO-TEX®-certified factory in Japan. Dyeing uses biomass (plant-derived) sources instead of petroleum.
  • Fiber waste generated during fabric production is also recycled.
  • The trims are considered too: the size tag is 100% recycled polyester from PET bottles, the care tag is 100% cotton lawn, and the brand tag is 50%+ recycled polyester.

Care

  • Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
  • Hand wash, or use a laundry net on a delicates/hand-wash cycle.
  • Do not tumble dry or dry clean. Line dry in the shade.

STAFF Yamane Summer hiking (tent camping)
Summer hiking is where you can really cut weight.
Summer hiking is where you can really cut weight. Many people find a sleeping bag too hot once night temperatures stay above 10°C. Cold tolerance varies from person to person, but in general men tend to handle cold better. My usual combination is the ADRIFT LINER, an Escape Bivvy and an Evernew FP mat. Inside a single-wall tent I can cope with 5 or 6°C, and above 10°C I sleep comfortably. For sleepwear I use active insulation top and bottom. At camp it can easily be wrapped around the neck and body, and it handles moisture well. I think I'm fairly cold-tolerant, so please don't copy this blindly, but with some experimenting you can build your own ideal sleep system.
