ALTRA TIMP 6 Men's

A trail shoe for long hours, built around a 30mm stack and Vibram® Megagrip

The ALTRA TIMP 6 Men's is a trail shoe that pairs a 30mm Altra EGO™ MAX midsole with a Vibram® Megagrip outsole. On top of the ALTRA basics of a 0mm drop, Standard FootShape™ and GaiterTrap™ compatibility, it adds a Soft Rolled Mesh upper and a revised fit.

It is intended for trail running, long trail running and hiking. A 30mm cushion that is neither too thick nor too low, Megagrip for wet surfaces, and a Standard fit that holds the foot together give it a balance that works on trails where running and walking alternate.

Altra EGO™ MAX at a 30mm stack

The midsole uses Altra EGO™ MAX at a stack height of 30mm. It keeps enough foam to absorb impact at footstrike while staying at a height that does not sit too far off the ground.

The drop is 0mm, so the heel and forefoot sit at the same height. The 30mm of foam is placed evenly front and back, adding no fore-aft slope on trails where you keep changing how you place your foot on climbs, flats and descents.

Vibram® Megagrip links wet and dry ground

The outsole is Vibram® Megagrip. It is a rubber compound made to find grip both on surfaces where friction drops away, such as wet rock and boardwalk, and on dry dirt and rock.

On the TIMP 6 the traction layout of the outsole has also been revised, making it easier to put rubber on the ground from footstrike through toe-off. It is an underfoot setup for handling repeated changes in surface conditions on a long trail without changing shoes.

Soft Rolled Mesh is 85% RPET

The upper uses Soft Rolled Mesh, 85% of which is RPET. It softens the surface that touches the foot while keeping the mesh breathable, and has been updated to reduce pressure on the forefoot, which flexes repeatedly over long hours of wear.

The overlay layout has also been revised, adding protection where mesh alone falls short. It keeps breathability while preparing for outside contact on trails with rock and roots.

Holding the instep and midfoot while adjusting the room inside

The TIMP 6 also revises the fit structure. The instep through the midfoot holds the foot while the internal volume of the shoe has been adjusted, reducing tightness on entry and pressure through flex.

The FootShape™ is Standard. It leaves room for the toes to spread while keeping the midfoot tidier than Original. Even when the foot swells over a long run, there is still space to move into at the forefoot.

GaiterTrap™ compatible

The heel carries GaiterTrap™, so compatible gaiters attach without running a strap under the sole. On trails where sand, grit and mud get in over the collar, a gaiter can be added as needed.

Cushion, grip and fit brought together at 30mm

The 30mm of EGO™ MAX, Vibram® Megagrip and Standard FootShape™ combine so that impact from repeated footstrikes, grip on the ground and hold on the foot are each supported by a separate element over long hours on trail.
