The origin of a breathable waterproof shell for changing mountain conditions

The TB Jacket is Teton Bros.'s flagship breathable waterproof shell, continuously refined over the seasons. Its ventilation is designed around airflow efficiency and ease of operation, and combined with breathable fabric, it aims to curb sweat buildup during activity while keeping the inside of the jacket dry. Easier body-temperature control also helps reduce fatigue on long outings and lowers the risk of hypothermia.

A large diagonal ventilation opening

A large ventilation zip runs diagonally from the chest to the side of the torso. Its long opening and generous pull angle make it easy to open and close even while on the move. Combined with the fabric's own breathability, it lets you release heat and moisture quickly during climbs with heavy sweating or in conditions with big shifts in snow. The placement also lets you reach a bib pocket without opening the front zip.

This season's update: Tamak and 70D mechanical stretch

The shell fabric has been updated to Tamak. The membrane is now PFAS-free, securing the protection needed while reducing environmental impact. The face fabric has been changed to a 140-denier-equivalent 70-denier doubled mechanical stretch nylon. Moving up from the previous 50-denier fabric has significantly improved resistance to abrasion and tearing along with stretch. Breathability and water repellency remain at the previous level, while water-resistance has also improved. The balance between durability and suppleness is strong, reducing stiffness when worn.

Articulated cut built around shoulder ROM, with a revised back pattern

An articulated cut designed around the shoulder joint's ROM (Range of Motion), which moves through a wide range. The construction reduces fabric pull and tension even when raising and lowering your arms, using poles, or moving against a pack's shoulder harness. The back panel has moved from a curved to a straight-line pattern, preventing load from concentrating at a single point while keeping the same range of motion as before.

Hood and neck protection

Built with a helmet in mind, the hood's brim core has been made thicker and the brim area larger for this season. It keeps its shape when cinched down and maintains a wide field of view. Two adjusters at the front allow both horizontal and vertical adjustment, and can be released in a single action. The chin curve has been revised to create space between your mouth and the shell, so the collar doesn't press against your mouth and interfere with breathing at high speed or in deep snow. A wide drawcord channel fits snugly across the forehead, keeping out wind and rain. A new sweat-guard piece sits on the inside of the collar where it meets your chin, keeping sweat off the membrane directly while reinforcing durability in a zone that sees a lot of friction.

Pocket and cuff details

Inside, a large mesh pocket on the left fits goggles, and a new zippered pocket on the right holds a phone or other small items. The chest pocket has been extended by about 1.5cm for easier access even with gloves on, and a new mic loop inside lets you clip a radio mic or keys. The cuffs use a wide-opening design that pulls on over a glove without fighting its bulk, and a widened adjuster mount gives an even fit.

Designed with the backcountry in mind

The concept aims to keep you moving without interruption even as backcountry conditions shift moment to moment. Balancing ventilation, protection, and mobility, it is a breathable waterproof shell built to handle climbs and descents, as well as changes in temperature and snow condition.
