A three-layer construction with an air space between two meshes, for warmth and heat release
The STATIC DOUBLECELL PULLOVER is a hoodless mid layer built from DOUBLECELL, a fabric developed together with a specialist factory in Japan. The face and back meshes are tied together with yarn, creating a space between them in a three-layer construction. The air space inside the fabric holds warmth while heat can still escape.
The fabric is 100% polyester, of which 32% is recycled content. Size M weighs 170g. The fabric is made from recycled polyester yarn that was sitting in the factory waiting to be discarded, and both the fabric and the sewing are done in Japan.
The three-layer construction that ties face and back meshes together
What sets DOUBLECELL apart is that the fabric is not built as one thick layer: the face and back mesh structures are tied with yarn to create a space inside. That space works on warmth, while the mesh structure keeps a path for heat to leave.
The construction differs from a brushed fabric like fleece, and the fabric itself is not brushed. STATIC also names the fact that not brushing keeps microplastic shedding to a minimum as a benefit of this fabric.
A fabric that fills the gap between fleece and a summer T-shirt
STATIC positions DOUBLECELL as a material for the times of year that neither fleece alone nor a summer T-shirt alone handles well. It is a mid layer that fits the shoulder seasons, from spring into early summer and through autumn, when warmth and cold air are mixed.
For Fall/Winter 2026 the series design was renewed. The PULLOVER pairs a roomy Relax+ fit with a classical design.
A hoodless crew neck that layers easily
The neck is a crew neck with no hood, so hoods do not stack when another layer goes over the top. A pocket with a snap button sits on the left chest, giving a place for small items within a simple pullover.
Fabric made in Japan from yarn that was waiting to be discarded
The fabric uses recycled polyester yarn that was left in the factory awaiting disposal. Using recycled material also works toward cutting CO2 emissions in yarn production.
Cutting waste from production is not discarded either: it is recycled into material for other products. The snap buttons are made of recycled polyester, and the tags and labels are 100% recycled polyester. No PP bag is used in shipping. Both the fabric and the sewing are done in Japan.
