A Sports Tenugui Patterned After the Rings of a Tree, "Jurin"
Jurin takes its motif from the growth rings cut into the trunk of a tree. The design draws on the patterns you notice in a fallen trunk or a cut stump along a mountain trail, layering colors over the background to suggest the many expressions trees show. It's a piece meant to turn your eye toward scenery you'd otherwise walk straight past — one to bring along on a hike, or to let you feel that depth of nature in everyday life too.
A Piece Built for Easy Outdoor Use
Part of the "Sports Tenugui" series, built with features suited to hiking, camping, and trail running. It's designed with a balance that fits naturally into outdoor scenery, and made in Japan from weaving through sewing, dyeing, and packaging, all by hand by domestic craftspeople. It keeps the easy handling a tenugui is known for while soaking up sweat and drying quickly, in a shape that's easy to wrap or tie.
Features and Functions
- Uses an original bamboo rayon yarn prized for absorbency and quick drying. Blended with cotton, the fabric soaks up sweat fast and dries easily even after washing.
- A long 110cm length, easy to wrap around the head to stop sweat or loosely around the neck against sun or chill.
- Overlocked edges that resist fraying through repeated washing and carrying.
- A special finish with a naturally derived softener gives a gentle feel against the skin when you wipe with it.
- Anti-bacterial, anti-odor finishing with hinokitiol worked into the fabric, helping curb lingering odor during use and while drying.
The 50% cotton, 50% bamboo rayon blend balances a pleasant feel when wiping with easy drying. At roughly 31 x 110cm, the length wraps around the head or neck without excess bulk and is easy to retie. The pattern is named "Jurin," layering the depth of growth rings with the many expressions of trees.
