A long-distance road shoe that supports a high stack on a stable base

The Mount to Coast C1 Men's is a road running shoe that combines a thick midsole, 42mm at the heel and 36mm at the forefoot, with a wide contact surface and high sidewalls. The drop is 6mm. Mount to Coast positions it as a model that links training of different distances and paces in one shoe, from long runs and multi-day running to recovery runs and tempo runs.

The midsole is a dual structure with CircleCELL™ on top and Rubberized EVA below. Rather than leaning purely on softness or bounce, it places a layer that supports stability under the thick foam, and holds down lateral movement with high sidewalls that surround the foot and a wide base.

CircleCELL™, used in the upper layer, is a biomass-derived midsole material made from 100% renewable feedstock. By Mount to Coast's published figures, it uses inputs such as recycled organic waste while delivering energy return on a par with PEBA-based foams.

The running life of CircleCELL™ is twice that of PEBA. It is a material made on the assumption of repeated use across long-distance runs and everyday training, rather than spending its bounce over a short period.

Rubberized EVA sits in the lower layer, forming a stable base that receives the cushioning and rebound of the layer above. The 42mm heel stack is not built from a single soft foam but split into two layers with different roles.

A wide base and high sidewalls support the foot

A wide contact surface and sidewalls that surround the foot

The sole takes a laterally wide contact surface, and the midsole sidewalls rise high around the foot. Rather than simply setting the foot on top of thick foam, it is a structure that seats the foot inside the midsole.

Over long distances, keeping the foot from moving too far side to side at each footstrike matters as much as the softness of the foam. The C1 secures contact area with a wide base and supports foot position with high sidewalls, stabilizing the thick midsole.

TUNEDFIT™ tightens the forefoot and midfoot separately

TUNEDFIT dual lacing system
TUNEDFIT™ adjusts the forefoot and midfoot independently

The TUNEDFIT™ Dual Lacing System lets you adjust the tension of the forefoot and midfoot separately. With a single conventional lace, tightening the instep changes the forefoot at the same time; the C1 makes the two zones independent.

Mount to Coast adopted TUNEDFIT™ as a way to handle the swelling and change in foot shape that happen over long-distance running. You can loosen only the forefoot mid-run, or keep only the midfoot hold, a structure that adapts to a foot that changes over time.

A wide toe box and a Jacquard upper

The last uses a wide toe box, securing space for the toes to move at the forefoot. Even when the foot spreads over a long run it avoids squeezing the front, and combined with the midfoot adjustment of TUNEDFIT™ it lets you build a different fit front and back.

The upper uses a Jacquard material. Against a shoe with a thick midsole and a wide base, it takes the role of holding the foot from above.

A range of uses for running long on the road

The scenes it is intended for are long runs, stage races, recovery runs and tempo runs. It carries a high cushion volume without being limited to easy days, extending to training where the pace picks up somewhat.

The C1 also holds the American Podiatric Medical Association Seal of Acceptance. This marks that it passed APMA review as a product that contributes to foot health.
