The popular long-distance flagship model, the LA SPORTIVA "Akasha II", has evolved.

This updated model retains the high cushioning and running performance required for long-distance trail running, while further improving durability and fit. It is generously equipped with unique technologies such as the Dynamic Protection System, which flexibly follows the movement of the foot, and the Trail Rocker System, which supports natural foot movement. By revising the lacing system and side design, it provides even more secure hold and toughness even in harsh environments.

From long-distance races like ultra-trails to daily long rides, this is a reliable pair of shoes that maximizes a runner's potential.

High-volume design for long-distance use

Considering foot swelling and fatigue during long runs, a high-volume last with ample room for foot width and instep height is adopted. This ensures a comfortable fit with less pressure, even on demanding long trails.

Dynamic Protection System

The upper features a Dynamic Protection System that flexibly follows foot movements while maintaining the overall shape of the shoe. This suppresses twisting and lateral sway on trails, supporting stable running.

Cushion Platform Structure

The insole and midsole feature a Cushion Platform Structure that protects the foot from impact from rough terrain and strong landing shocks. This reduces fatigue and enables smooth foot movement over long distances.

FriXion® Red Outsole & Trail Rocker System

The outsole uses FriXion® Red, a high-quality compound that offers a balanced combination of high grip and abrasion resistance. Combined with the Trail Rocker System, which promotes natural weight transfer from the outer heel to the inner toe, it achieves efficient and propulsive running even on challenging, undulating terrain.

Staff Reviews

STAFF Yamane Hiking / Trail Running
A trail running shoe you can use on rocky ridgelines
I often use trail running shoes even on rocky ridges, but rubbing against rock tends to tear the upper, or gouge and wear away the midsole. And when the sole is too soft, it's hard to feel stable on rock, which can make climbing feel more difficult.

That said, for outings where I want to move at a reasonably quick pace, I don't want to go all the way to a sturdy boot. That's where the Akasha II comes in.

The upper has resin parts bonded to it, reinforcing the areas that see a lot of rubbing and contact with rock so they're less likely to tear. The sole isn't too soft either, so there's solid stability when you place your foot on rock.

It keeps the light, nimble feel you expect from a trail running shoe while still handling scree and rocky terrain with ease. That balance is what makes the Akasha II so good. It's an easy shoe to choose for surfaces that give you a bit of pause, long traverses, and technical mountain areas.
