ALTRA OLYMPUS 7 Men's

33mm of cushioning and Vibram® Megagrip, for long hours on trail

The ALTRA OLYMPUS 7 Men's is a trail shoe that pairs a 33mm stack Altra EGO™ MAX midsole with a Vibram® Megagrip with TractionLug™ outsole. It keeps the 0mm drop and the wide forefoot of Original FootShape™ while updating the midsole, tongue, collar and upper.

It is intended for trail running, long trail running and hiking. It takes impact with a thick cushion while using outsole grip on wet rock, dry dirt and broken ground, a setup for staying on the move for a long time.

Altra EGO™ MAX updated to be 15% lighter and 10% softer

The EGO™ MAX in the OLYMPUS 7 is 15% lighter and 10% softer than the foam used in the previous generation. It holds the 33mm stack height while reducing weight underfoot and the firmness of the foam.

Making the foam itself lighter while keeping the cushion volume holds down the weight added underfoot over a long run or walk. The softer EGO™ MAX absorbs impact at footstrike, making the role of the thick midsole clear.

Vibram® Megagrip with TractionLug™ puts the contact surface to work

The outsole uses Vibram® Megagrip combined with the TractionLug™ shape. Megagrip is a rubber compound that delivers grip on both wet and dry surfaces.

TractionLug™ raises traction through its lug shape, supporting contact on dirt, rock and scree. Placing a grippy outsole under 33mm of cushioning supports footstrike even on long descents and on changing footing.

A thicker tongue and a one-piece comfort collar

The tongue has more volume than the previous generation, keeping lace pressure from concentrating on the instep. The collar uses a one-piece molded comfort design, updated to wrap around the heel.

In a shoe worn for long hours, the feel at the instep and collar, where contact continues, changes as readily as the midsole cushioning. The OLYMPUS 7 adds cushioning to the upper parts that hold the foot as well.

Engineered mesh with molded TPU overlays

The upper uses a breathable engineered mesh. Molded TPU overlays are added to it, supplying protection and durability where the shoe meets rock and roots.

Rather than covering the whole upper in stiff material, reinforcement is placed only where it is needed while the mesh keeps its breathability.

Original FootShape™ and a 0mm drop

The FootShape™ is Original, the shape in the ALTRA line that leaves the most room at the toes and midfoot. It gives space for the toes to spread and leaves room at the forefoot even when the foot swells over a long day.

The height difference between heel and forefoot is 0mm. Even with 33mm of cushioning, it keeps ALTRA's Balanced Cushioning, with no difference in foot position front to back.
