NEMO Ora™ 2026

A self-inflating mat that puts durability first while balancing insulation and packability

The NEMO Ora™ 2026 is a self-inflating mat combining a 30D polyester top with a 75D polyester bottom. The heavier fabric goes on the underside that meets the ground, giving it the durability to be handled repeatedly in the mountains and at camp.

Inside it uses open-cell PU foam, supporting the body with the resilience of air and foam together. Rather than inflating everything by breath as with an air mat, opening the valve lets the foam recover and draw air in. Final firmness is adjusted by the amount of air.

Two-axis coring makes the foam lighter while keeping insulation

The internal foam uses two-axis coring, removing material from both the lengthwise and crosswise directions. Adding large through-holes to foam makes it lighter, but that much more cold comes through from the ground. The Ora™ cores the foam while keeping it continuous, balancing insulation against weight.

The R-value is 2.7 and the thickness is 2.5cm. Rather than leaving foam across the whole mat, it secures the support and insulation needed while cutting away what is not, which makes it easier to handle as a self-inflating mat.

A 30D top and a 75D bottom

The sleeping side uses 30D polyester and the ground side uses 75D polyester ripstop. Making the bottom, which faces the ground directly, the heavier of the two raises the durability of the face that meets friction and small protrusions.

The top is 30D, thinner than the bottom, holding down weight compared with using 75D throughout. Fabric thickness is varied between top and bottom, allocating strength to the side that needs it.

A twist-lock valve that opens with a turn

The valve is a light, simple twist-lock type. A turn switches it between open and closed, and the same valve handles inflation, fine adjustment of air volume and deflation at pack-up. Closed, it prevents unintended air loss.

Because the structure is self-inflating, at pitch you open the valve and let the foam recover, then add air as needed to reach the firmness you want. At pack-up you roll it while pushing air out and secure it with the included compression strap.

Non-slip silicone at the shoulders and hips

On the underside of the mat, the shoulder and hip positions that take the most load carry a silicone non-slip treatment. It is there to stop the mat itself from sliding away as you move around inside the tent.

Rather than covering the whole surface in silicone, it is placed where load concentrates. It adds friction against the floor in situations where slope or turning over would otherwise move the mat.

Three shapes, all with an R-value of 2.7

There are three types: Regular Mummy, Medium Mummy and Regular Wide, all 2.5cm thick with an R-value of 2.7. Alongside the Regular and Medium mummy shapes, the 64cm wide Regular Wide is a rectangular shape. Weight and packed size change with length, width and shape, but the stated insulation figure is common to all.

Included are a dedicated stuff sack, a compression strap and a repair patch. The parts for packing it down and the repair supplies for handling small damage in the field are there from the start.
