An autumn/winter wind shell you can wear over a running pack
The WS Wind River Pod Hoody was made to prevent the chill of running in light layers. Built for autumn/winter mountain running, it's designed to be thrown on quickly over a running vest or lightweight pack. A "POD" structure that expands on the back wraps around what you're carrying, aiming for both warmth and mobility.
A back "POD" that wraps a pack without restricting arm swing
A tuck structure with a double-fold pleat on the back makes it easy to put on over a running vest or small pack without taking it off. The design secures arm-swing mobility while expanding to cover the pack on your back. Without a pack, the tuck folds flat against the body, keeping unnecessary flapping to a minimum.
An opening designed for ventilation and access while you run
A long vent carried over at the angle of the TB Jacket opens wide from the top, drawing in air easily. It's easy to reach into a running vest's flask or pocket, and reaches center or side-pocket food and gear carried on the back.
The front uses a double slider. Open from the bottom to bring in airflow while running, or close only the top to reduce flapping at the chest — ventilation you can fine-tune to the situation.
Cuff and hem details that keep wind out
Elastic cuffs fit snugly to the wrist and cut down on wind entry. A thumb anchor is included to hold the sleeve in place with your thumb.
The hem has a piped finish for a comfortable fit. A longer drop-tail at the back gives solid coverage above the hips, keeping your lower back covered even in a forward lean.
Fabric and basic performance
The fabric is the same mechanical-stretch nylon (100% nylon) as the standard Wind River Hoody. C0 DWR sheds light rain and mist, and moderate wind resistance and breathability keep you from overheating, with stretch that doesn't get in the way of your stride. It's balanced enough to double as hiking activewear.
Portability that packs down to palm-sized
A packable design lets the body stow into the back pocket. It packs down to about palm-sized, so you can put it on or stow it quickly when you need to. At 110g in a size M, it's light enough to carry without adding much weight.
Where it fits in
For blocking wind during autumn/winter mountain running, or fighting the chill on a ridge or a descent. It's also useful for hiking, where you can layer it on quickly over a thin base layer to regulate temperature.
