The Vectiv Forward is a high-rebound speed model that brings THE NORTH FACE's VECTIV technology to road running. It follows the geologic of the Summit VECTIV Pro 3 and uses a three-layer VECTIV system sole unit. Rather than leaning on rebound alone, it builds in a structure that holds down lateral movement and twisting, treating propulsion and stability as equally important.
The three-layer VECTIV system sole unit
VECTIV is a sole unit technology developed by THE NORTH FACE with the aim of improving energy efficiency when walking and running. It puts together propulsion, grip and shock absorption in the combination that suits the target field. On the Vectiv Forward, that thinking is matched to running on road and built as a three-layer sole unit.
A 3D Pebax and carbon plate behind rebound and stability
At the centre of the sole unit sits a three-dimensional 3D Pebax and carbon plate. The plate carries the rebound and holds down twisting while running, leading to a stable structure that limits lateral movement while supporting propulsion. It is a road shoe made for speed that also treats stability underfoot as part of the point.
Light, high-rebound DREAM foam and a rocker shape
The midsole uses light, high-rebound DREAM foam. The whole midsole is rockered, and that forward-rolling shape supports propulsion. The heel is 35.5 mm and the forefoot 29.5 mm, for an offset of 6.0 mm.
A SurfaceCTRL outsole for the push-off on road
The outsole uses SurfaceCTRL rubber blended with 10% natural rubber. It grips well on wet surfaces as well as dry ones. The lugs form a flat pattern calculated for a smooth push-off, so the underfoot structure follows the stride from landing through to toe-off on road.
A breathable mesh and TPU upper
The upper is built from breathable mesh and TPU. With several functions carried on the sole side, such as the plate and the high-rebound foam, the upper uses mesh that secures breathability.
For road runners who want both speed and stability
It is aimed at runners targeting a sub-3 to sub-4 marathon, runners who want stability as well as rebound, and longer distances such as ultramarathons. It does not guarantee any particular time; it is a road running shoe for runners who want speed and also want steady footing. Weight is roughly 255 g for a single 9 inch shoe.
