Tilak Svalbard Jacket

A built-in insulation jacket that keeps your temperature steady in cold, damp conditions

The Svalbard Jacket combines a membrane and insulation in one integrated construction. The outer uses WINDSTOPPER® Products by GORE‑TEX LABS (2-layer), blocking wind firmly while its strong water resistance sheds rain and snow (it's not fully waterproof). The insulation is CLIMASHIELD® APEX 75 g/m² — lightweight, warm, and able to hold onto warmth even when wet. It's built to keep your body temperature steady during low-output time in cold, somewhat damp conditions, cutting down on moisture buildup while moving and chill while stopped.

Balancing weather protection and temperature control

WINDSTOPPER®'s wind-blocking and strong water resistance pair with the moisture resilience of synthetic insulation. The outer sheds wind and the first of rain or snow, while the insulation inside tends to hold its loft even when wet. The result handles both outside cooling (wind, water) and inside moisture (sweat) at once, helping you stay comfortable in cold, damp conditions. From cold mountain-base wind to light snow-mixed rain to a dewy campsite, it's easy to just keep wearing through changing conditions. It isn't a fully waterproof hard shell, so for extended heavy rain a separate rain layer helps, but for breaks, waiting around, or gentle rain, this one piece does the job simply.

• Shell: WINDSTOPPER® Products by GORE‑TEX LABS (2-layer). The membrane uses ePE (expanded polyethylene).
• Water repellency: PFAS-free durable water repellent (DWR) finish.
• Insulation: CLIMASHIELD® APEX 75 g/m² (lightweight, highly warm, keeps its insulating power even when wet).

Six pockets in total make it easy to keep gear close at hand, while the adjustable sleeves and hem cut down on drafts, and the packable design makes it easy to carry even when stopped. It stows right into its own inner pocket, so you don't need a separate stuff sack, and it packs down well in a bag.

Where it works well

Especially effective as a warm layer for low-output stretches — photography, camping, waiting at a ski lift, resting on a hike. It helps you hold your body temperature in cold, damp conditions. It's easy to handle for temperature management before and after a cold start, or when you're holding back activity after sundown, and also works well thrown on quickly over a mid layer.
