A short sleeve wool tee that pairs 70% wool with Titan Spun for abrasion resistance
The STATIC FORGE WOOL S/S is a short sleeve that uses 70% merino wool while raising durability against the rubbing that is hard to avoid in hiking and climbing. The fabric is 70% merino wool and 30% nylon. Size M weighs 150g, and the fit is athletic.
The abrasion resistance comes from a spun yarn called Titan Spun. A wool yarn sits at the core, with two ultrafine nylon yarns wound around the outside at even intervals. Rather than cutting the wool share to add strength, it keeps a high wool blend and its softness while using a yarn structure that meets rubbing.
A wool fabric built for friction from packs and rock
Use wool in the mountains again and again, and contact with a pack or rubbing against rock turns into damage to the fabric. FORGE WOOL revisits that at the level of the yarn. The ultrafine nylon yarns on the outside of Titan Spun take the friction, while wool sits at the core, keeping the blend at 70% merino wool.
The short sleeve S/S uses the same FORGE WOOL fabric as the L/S. It is a series built around using a wool-led T-shirt hard, for hiking and climbing.
Testing repeated in offwidths and on coarse granite
In climbing, STATIC tested the product by entering an offwidth, a crack wide enough for the body, and making repeated contact with coarse-grained granite. No visible major damage was found.
Testing was also carried out on hikes with a pack over 10kg and heavy sweating, and under those conditions pilling did not occur. With repeated use it will not stay identical to new, but no change in shape was found either, and the durability was verified with long use in mind.
A 150g short sleeve
Size M weighs 150g. The fit is athletic. The fabric is made in China and sewn in China. The same Titan Spun fabric as the long sleeve is brought together here as a short sleeve T-shirt.
Production that looks at cutting waste and packaging
Recycled material is used for the woven labels and the care labels. The waste produced when cutting the garments is not incinerated either, but passed to a recycler. At delivery, garments are wrapped in thin paper rather than individually bagged in plastic. The effort to reduce waste covers the trims, the production process and the packaging, not only the fabric used in the garment.
