The GOOD FAR GRID-DRY Crew-neck Long sleeve Thumbhole + Watchhole is a long-sleeve base layer made for hiking, trekking and trail running — activity where you keep moving and keep sweating.

What the GRID-DRY series prioritises is moving sweat out of the layer closest to your skin. It is developed to avoid the state where the fabric has soaked up too much sweat and stays wet, with both the moving and the standing-still parts of a day in mind.

The long-sleeve model adds coverage from your arms to the backs of your hands. With a thumbhole and a watchhole, it works through the cold season and equally when you want less skin exposed in summer.

The sweat while you move, the chill when you stop

In the mountains your body is in a very different state on the climb than it is on a break. Output goes up and you sweat; you stand still and wet fabric turns into a chill.

GOOD FAR takes the view that what a base layer needs in that situation is to move sweat out. GRID-DRY puts low weight and sweat management first, finished in a minimal make-up that leaves out extra detailing.

A thumbhole that covers the back of your hand

There is a thumbhole at the cuff, so putting your thumb through extends the sleeve over the back of your hand.

Useful in cool autumn and winter weather, and equally when you want to keep your arms and hands out of the sun in summer. It makes a long sleeve easy to choose whatever the season.

A cuff with a watchhole

Alongside the thumbhole, the cuff has a watchhole.

It is a detail built around using a running watch even with the sleeve extended over your hand. The elasticated section of the cuff is 10cm on every size.

A base layer, or a piece on its own

As well as a close fit worn as a base layer, GOOD FAR suggests sizing up one or two from your usual inner size for running and wearing it on its own.

Closer to true-to-size under a shirt or shell in the mountains, a little roomier when you want to wear it alone as running kit. Change the fit for what you are doing.

Pulling together what is needed

A simple 100% polyester long sleeve, combined with a thumbhole and a watchhole — functions that get used while you are moving.

What GOOD FAR sets out to do is not to add functions for their own sake, but to focus on the parts an activity actually calls for and work the balance against price. GRID-DRY brings that thinking to the simplest garment there is: the base layer.
