Why the Barefoot Concept?
Merrell's barefoot line is not intended to replicate being barefoot. Its purpose is to bring out the foot's inherent functions, such as underfoot sensation and toe movement, through a simple structure.
It's about feeling the ground's information appropriately and balancing with your own body. The fundamental idea behind this category is to achieve this state naturally.
A Design That Doesn't Strip Away Everything
However, modern environments are predominantly hard paved roads. Using an extremely thin sole in such conditions can place a significant burden on the feet. The Trail Glove 8 is designed with this in mind.
With an approximate stack height of 14mm and a 0mm drop, it maintains a natural posture while FloatPro foam softly absorbs impact.
It keeps you close to the ground while mitigating excessive burden. This balance makes it suitable for use from everyday life to outdoor activities.
Structure That Doesn't Hinder Foot Movement
The Barefoot 2 construction allows the foot to settle into a natural position and makes it easy to use the toes. On the other hand, since feet can become unstable on uneven terrain, stability is also ensured by TPU overlays and an external rear sling structure.
The areas that allow free movement and the areas that provide support are clearly delineated in the design.
Difference from Vapor Glove
While the Vapor Glove is designed to maximize underfoot sensation with the simplest possible structure, the Trail Glove 8 is a model that makes that sensation more manageable for everyday use.
It's an easy choice for those who want to re-evaluate their foot mechanics but want to avoid extreme changes.
