The lining is brushed, and the inside of the pass-through pocket uses the same brushed material. I loved how warm it felt to put my hands in.
The vivid red lifts my mood. The ultra water-repellent finish that beads water off is another attraction.

CAPSULE 60 PULLOVER is a minimalist insulated pullover with the extras stripped away. A deep-set center zip makes it easier to get on and off, lowering the usual friction of wearing a pullover-style layer through the start-and-stop rhythm of hiking or climbing. The insulation is 60g/m² THERMOFRONT® OA, prioritizing light weight, packability, and ease of handling on the move while still delivering the warmth you need. The fit is relaxed — roomy without excess bagginess, for an easy-to-wear balance.
The insulation is THERMOFRONT® OA, made by forming "OCTAIR®" — a hollow, irregular-cross-section fiber sharing the same cross-section concept as the Octa® CPCP® used in the ADRIFT line — into a sheet. The hollow core of the fiber, ringed by eight protrusions, traps a large amount of dead air. That delivers high warmth for its weight class while keeping it light and highly compressible. It packs down flat and springs back quickly when you need it. OCTAIR® is a 100% recycled polymer sourced from ECOPET®, derived from PET bottles, and THERMOFRONT® OA blends in 70% of it — cutting manufacturing-process CO2 emissions by 23% compared with virgin material (calculated by TA Frontier Co., Ltd.).
Thermal performance is objectively compared by CLO value, where it recorded higher figures than other synthetic insulations made for outdoor use. Testing was done using the JIS L1096A thermal insulation test method (an ASTM-type thermal insulation tester), with CLO values calculated based on ASTM D1518-85, confirming an edge over comparable synthetic insulations. Among synthetic-insulated outerwear in the same class, it's designed to hold meaningful heat for a limited amount of weight.
Both synthetic insulation and down have their strengths and their drawbacks.
Once I understood both sides, synthetic insulation became the one I reached for. I've now been using it as my main insulation for over ten years.
Every well-known insulation brand has its own distinct characteristics, and I switch between them depending on the use case. A big reason I lean on synthetic insulation is that its loft holds up even when wet, and it keeps performing even with somewhat rough handling. It's also easy to care for, which makes it easy to use in the field without a second thought.
Testing the THERMOFRONT® OA prototype samples, what stood out clearly compared with the many synthetic insulations I've tried was its sense of loft.
Even at 40 or 60g/m² — a fairly standard thickness for synthetic insulation — it held a solid loft. The moment I put it on, I felt the lightness and the sense of being wrapped in a thick layer of dead air. Given how much warmth it delivers for its weight, it felt closer to down despite being a synthetic fill.
The domestic 10D recycled nylon paired with it has a light, supple hand. It's a combination that makes the most of THERMOFRONT® OA's loft without crushing it. Because the fabric prioritizes light weight above all, it does need some care around snags — but if it ever does tear, we offer repairs.
To help it last as long as possible, we've set up a repair program, and in the design we've kept eyelets and other hardware that could come loose to a minimum, to reduce the risk of damage in the first place.
The face fabric is an ultra-thin 10-denier recycled nylon made in Japan. The non-fluorine "GreenBeads" ultra water-repellent (C0) finish keeps the surface shedding water well while staying light. Durability is built in too — it's confirmed to still rate 80 points for water repellency after 100 washes. It resists soaking through from dry snow, mist, or condensation at a tent site during activity, so it's less likely to make you colder. Note that water repellency is not the same as waterproofing — pair it with rain shell in sustained rain.
The deep-set center zip eases the usual downside of a pullover — the hassle of getting it on and off — making it quick to vent heat or switch layers as needed. A connected kangaroo pocket sits across the front, lined inside with brushed Octa® CPCP® fabric that doubles as a hand warmer for cold hands. The body of the garment can also be stuffed into this pocket, so it works as a simple pillow at a rest stop or in a tent — adding comfort without adding to your load. Cinch the hem drawcord to tighten the fit around the bottom and keep cold air from creeping in from below.
The fit is relaxed — a touch of room that works well as a mid layer over a base layer and under a thin shell. It weighs about 275g in size M. From day hikes to overnight trips, it tucks into a corner of your pack without weighing you down, ready for a quick response to a cold morning or evening or a drop in body heat after activity. Being a synthetic insulation, it also holds up well to moisture and dries quickly. Adjust the zip and the hem drawcord to suit temperature, activity level, and wind.
