This LYELL uses a BRIGHT BL (bright blue) lens. A high-contrast lens with 85% visible light transmittance, it keeps a brightness almost indistinguishable from the naked eye. Rather than blocking sunlight, it's built to "protect the eyes"—physically shielding them from the pesky eye-gnats that swarm around your face on low summer mountains, and from branches on the trail or while bushwhacking.
On the trail, too: descending through dim forest, even a fairly bright lens can make the ground hard to read and leave you uneasy—but with this one you're covered. It fends off both UV and obstacles while you run with a clear view.
