Supple shorts that move between running and everyday life

The HERENESS SUGARCANE SHORTS (MEN) are running shorts with a supple hand and a length that handles daily running while still sitting comfortably in everyday clothes. The fabric is a composite material, 100% polyester, of which 18% comes from sugarcane-derived raw material. They achieve the stretch running asks for without using spandex (polyurethane). The relaxed silhouette leaves room around the legs, and the drawcord at the waist makes fit adjustment simple.

A length and silhouette for running days and rest days

Inseam length is something runners disagree about, with preferences and philosophies of their own. This model proposes "a length that handles daily running properly while sitting well in everyday use". The relaxed silhouette keeps the fabric from clinging around the thighs, making it easy to move from a jog to getting around town to a quick errand. The waist drawcord can be retied or loosened while you run, so it adapts to how you feel on the day and to what you are layering.

Storage: enough, and no more

The side pockets on both hips are sized for heading out nearby with keys or a card. A smartphone — the item you are most likely to carry — goes in the hip pocket. The vertical zip set at the centre back gives a wide enough opening to get things in and out easily. Sitting on the centreline of the body, that placement helps keep a phone from bouncing. Being able to separate what you carry on a run makes it easier to head out with your hands free.

Sugarcane-derived polyester, and the reasoning behind NO SPANDEX

Using sugarcane-derived raw material for 18% of the polyester brings a supple character together with performance. Spandex has long been used widely in sportswear, but it is a heavy-chemical product with a high environmental burden, and it degrades quickly — often reaching the end of its life in two or three years. These shorts use no spandex, securing comfort instead through a design and fabric choice that provide sufficient stretch. HERENESS is pursuing NO SPANDEX or LESS SPANDEX across its range, and this is one of those products.

How the sizing runs

The overall silhouette is relaxed. The inseam is set at 18 cm in S, 19 cm in M and 20 cm in L, securing the range of motion running needs while keeping the length from being too short for everyday wear. Please check the size chart for full figures.

Care

Machine washable in a laundry net. Do not tumble dry. After washing, do not leave the garment wet — reshape it and hang it to dry. If you iron, use a low setting with a pressing cloth.
