"Makimono" (scrolls) are useful items throughout the year. We love using them as tenugui towels in the summer and scarves in the winter, but we've always been searching for the "just right" item to wear during the cold season and for three-season high-altitude mountaineering. It needs to be warm, light, breathable, quick-drying, and large enough. However, it was difficult to find the perfect item, as the size was either too small or too bulky and heavy for winter use.
The idea of using a roll of active insulation had been around for some time, but Alpha Direct was prone to shedding, and fleece was too bulky...so the optimal solution we arrived at was Octa®.
Furthermore, by chance, an environment was created where printing onto Octa® could be realized!! An original Octa scarf with an original design that will add an accent to your outfit has been completed! The motif is wild animals encountered in the mountains.

Developed by Teijin, Octa® is a special polyester fiber with eight hollow fins. Its greatest features are its overwhelming lightness, sweat absorption, quick drying, heat retention, and breathability. It traps air to keep you warm while allowing heat and moisture to escape during exercise, making it an excellent "active insulation" material that reduces the hassle of putting on and taking off clothing.
