A long-sleeve shirt reworked from 1960s military style for movement in the mountains
The LONG SLEEVE OPEN COLLAR SHIRTS is a long-sleeve open-collar shirt based on a 1960s US military chambray shirt, with its material and construction reworked for outdoor use. The 100% nylon fabric is quick-drying and wind-resistant, standing up to sweat and wind on the move. Discreet ventilation on the underside of the sleeves helps release heat and moisture from inside the shirt.
A pattern and ventilation that don't get in the way of movement
Y-joint sleeve
The shoulders use the brand's original Y-joint sleeve construction. Extra ease built into the fabric under the arms, combined with sleeves attached at an upward angle to the body, secures a wide range of motion for raising the shoulders and arms. The detail draws on hunting wear, and reduces the pulling you can feel across the shoulders when lifting gear or swinging your arms while walking.
Underarm-sleeve ventilation
Discreet ventilation on the underside of the sleeves creates an airflow path that helps release humidity from sweating. It supports temperature regulation through repeated stretches of activity and rest.
A back designed around wearing a backpack
The back is deliberately built without a yoke, with a backpack in mind. This comes from the same 1960s US military chambray shirt the design is based on. Removing the yoke seam keeps the back cleaner under a pack's straps.
The designer's intent
Designer Kazuhiko Kai notes that outdoor-brand shirts themselves have become less common in recent years, but that a single one earns its place in daily use — this piece was made with particular care among his mountain gear. He designed it around wearing a backpack, building in an original construction meant to hold up in actual use.
