About the WALKER SHELL JACKET

A rain shell jacket built to work year-round, from day hikes to thru-hikes. The 3-layer Pertex Shield Pro fabric balances durability, comfort, and breathability. Adjustments throughout the jacket are easy to operate on the move, paired with a roomy cut that layers well. Weight is about 220g in a size M — not built around lightness alone, but with long-term use in mind.

Material and core performance

The body is nylon and the mesh panels are polyester. The 3-layer Pertex Shield Pro construction combines fabric strength for repeated trail use with waterproof breathability for wet weather and a comfortable next-to-skin feel. The body has enough room to layer while keeping the number of seams to a minimum, bringing lightness, durability, and practicality together at a high level. Adjustments at the hood, cuffs, and hem let you vent heat and moisture quickly whenever you need to.

Hood adjustment and stowage

The hood has one adjuster at the back of the head, so it tightens with a single one-handed pull. Its brimmed, structured shape is cut slightly larger, so it fits comfortably over a cap or hat and keeps rain off the face. A loop sits inside at the neck, letting you hook the hood there to stow it compactly.

Pocket placement that stays clear of pack straps

The hand pockets sit higher than usual, positioned to avoid interference with a backpack's shoulder or hip belt. The placement is designed with long days on trail in mind, keeping access and comfort intact for thru-hikers carrying a pack for hours at a time.

An easy-to-operate front zipper

The main zipper uses a fine-gauge Vislon zipper. Compared with the watertight zippers common on UL rain jackets, it catches less when opening and closing and holds up better over time, which matters when you're venting frequently throughout the day.

Wide cuffs that roll up easily

The cuffs are cut wide, with enough range to roll up to around the elbow. A hook-and-loop closure lets you dial in the fit, so you can adjust body temperature and ventilation quickly — useful once rain eases off or when you're generating heat on a climb.

Hem drawcord adjustment

A drawcord on the left side lets you fine-tune the hem fit. You can cinch it down against wind and rain or loosen it to prioritize ventilation, adjusting to match conditions and your pace.

Fit and everyday use

The roomy, layer-friendly cut lets you add or remove mid layers as the season or conditions call for it. Three adjustment points — hood, cuffs, and hem — work together with the zipper and roll-up cuffs described above to keep your temperature in check on the move. The pared-down seam count supports not just low weight but practicality over long-term, repeated use.

About the colors

The current lineup colors are GRAPHITE NAVY and NIGHT CLOUD. The earlier colors MANGO and TEAL are also sold alongside them while stock remains.
