A racing vest optimized for middle-distance races, the RUSH 7R (2026 model)

The RUSH 7R is a major update to the brand's go-to racing vest, with a focus on middle-distance trail races. In the spirit of Designed by the Runners, it's been refined to carry better, handle better, and breathe better, cutting down both physical stress and the hassle of operating it over a long race. With a capacity of about 6.5L (including pockets) and a light weight of about 290g, it balances quick access to your gear with a stable fit.

Highlights of the 2026 update

This update brings heat-resistant materials to the back and harness, so comfort holds up better even in high-sweat conditions. How it carries and how it's operated have also been revisited, making adjustments and reaching in and out while running smoother. It's a more practical answer to what middle-distance races demand: a stable fit and quick access.

A fit and breathability that let you focus on running

VEST WRAP DESIGN (the fit follows your gear)

The main body uses 1-way stretch mesh, limiting vertical stretch to cut down on gear bouncing. Because it stretches more in the horizontal direction, the pack's capacity naturally adjusts to how much gear you're carrying, wrapping around your body for a close fit.

BREATHABLE MONO MESH (a harness that resists trapping heat)

The harness area against your body uses highly breathable mono mesh. It resists trapping heat, keeping things comfortable even in humid conditions or high-sweat situations.

SHOULDER ADJUSTERS (stepless shoulder adjustment)

The shoulder harness is built to fit a wide range of body types. It adjusts steplessly with velcro, with the stitching as a guide for keeping left and right balanced, so you can dial in your fit quickly.

SIDE ADJUSTERS (a snug hold from 6-point bungees)

Six-point bungee cords run along the sides, combining a wraparound hold with breathability. The cord at the waist can be pulled with one hand, so you can tighten or loosen it reliably even while running. A bungee cord and cord lock are included as standard.

CHEST STRAP & PGW TWIST LOCK (easy to operate, gentle on skin)

The chest strap uses a supple material that's gentle against the skin. The original PGW TWIST LOCK buckle stays easy to use even when you're tired, and is built with both light weight and durability in mind. Once you're used to it, putting it on and taking it off with one hand is smooth.

Fit range and how adjustment works

The fit guide is a chest circumference of 70–100cm. Combining the stepless shoulder adjustment with the 6-point side adjusters makes it easy to create a snug fit that doesn't get in the way of your chest's movement, and it keeps following along reliably as your gear load changes. Even as your volume and breathing change between the start of a run and after refueling, you can fine-tune the fit with one hand as you go.

A pocket layout that keeps you from hesitating mid-run

Reflecting user feedback, the layout has been reworked for stress-free access while running. It's easy to organize by how often you use something, so you can pull out what you need exactly when you need it.

Bottle pockets (with a drawcord to keep them from falling out)

The front bottle pockets are optimized for soft flasks up to 600ml and 500ml PET bottles. A drawcord holds them securely in place. The right chest pocket is fitted with a whistle for emergencies.

Snack pockets (a set spot for supplies and your phone)

The lower drawcord pocket is suited to storing food and a smartphone. Capacity has increased from the previous model, and access has improved too.

Side pockets (a job for each side)

A zippered pocket sits on the right, a flap pocket on the left. They're handy for temporarily stashing infrequently used valuables, a travel cup, or trash generated during activity.

Main access (quick with a center zipper)

The main compartment opens with an easy center zipper. An internal pocket helps organize small items, making it quick to get gear in and out.

Hydration pocket (separate compartment, less interference)

A hydration sleeve sits against your back, with the hose routed out over the shoulder. Because it's separate from the main access compartment, it's less likely to interfere with other gear, keeping things stable.

Bottom pocket (a large opening for easy loading)

A wind shell, gloves, and the like go in the pocket at the bottom of the body. Its large opening makes it easy to load, and its shape resists letting gear fall out even during hard movement.

Compatible with pole carry

The RUSH POLE HOLDER (sold separately) attaches using two loops at the top and one at the bottom. You can quickly switch how you carry your poles to match the climbs and descents during a race.

Mounting position for the RUSH POLE HOLDER
When attaching the RUSH POLE HOLDER (sold separately), use the two loops at the top and the one at the bottom.

The maker's intent (Designed by the Runners)

Since the RUSH series began in 2015, it has kept evolving starting from user feedback, producing 40 models over 11 years. With the goal of reducing both physical stress, like shoulder pain that comes from grueling trail running, and the mental stress that comes from a hard-to-use pack, the brand has repeated prototyping and testing built on opinions gathered at races and events, and the RUSH 7R has significantly advanced within that same flow. True to the words Designed by the Runners, it's a tool shaped close to the needs found in the field.
