STATIC ROAR RELAX HOODY

A lightweight mid layer you can wear relaxed

The ROAR RELAX HOODY is a knitted hoody made with AYUKAN, STATIC's own twisted yarn. The relaxed fit is easy to throw on, and as a mid layer it strikes a good balance between light weight and warmth. The fabric is 50% merino wool and 50% polyester. At around 190 g in size M/L it is light, and easy to put on, take off and carry while you are moving.

The light weight and loft that AYUKAN, STATIC's own twisted yarn, creates

AYUKAN is a proprietary yarn that draws on Japanese fancy-twisting technique: wool is twisted together with hollow Octa® yarn, and then only the wool side is brushed. Layering the loft and warmth of brushed wool onto the light weight and airy feel of Octa® yarn secures an insulating layer that holds air while keeping the weight manageable for active use.

Twisting is the process of twisting several yarns together into one, and the number of twists and the combination used change the stiffness, strength and handle considerably. Fancy twisting is an advanced method that adds brushing and special processing on top of that, a skilled field in which conditions are built up delicately to match the intended result. Through that design, AYUKAN achieves both light weight and comfort.

Construction and fit

To hold a complex structure in shape reliably, it is made using linking, in which knitted panels are joined together. Because each panel is knitted and finished before being carefully connected, the three-dimensional shape of the hoody is preserved while the soft, knitted feel on the body is kept.

The fit is relaxed, with room built in. It does not pull when worn over a base layer, a balance that makes it easy to put on and take off when you need to adjust your temperature.

Where it works

As a lightweight mid layer, it is designed to be easy to use across a wide range, from warmth while you are moving to keeping the chill off at a rest stop. The hood covers the neck softly, and the texture layers readily under a lightweight shell. It fits naturally into a layering system for hiking and mountain days where you alternate between moving and stopping.

Sustainability

• Made using a production method that generates little material waste
• Because the brushed areas are wool, the design sheds fewer microplastics than brushed synthetic fibres
• Octa® yarn is used undyed, cutting the CO2 emissions associated with yarn dyeing by more than 50%
• The brand label, size label and care label all use 100% recycled polyester derived from PET bottles
• Recycled materials are used for the trims as well
• Shipped wrapped in thin paper rather than individually bagged in plastic

Care and cautions

• Fabric softener and bleach cannot be used
• Hand wash, or wash in a laundry net on a delicate or hand-wash cycle
• As this is a knit, take care not to snag it on branches, hook-and-loop fasteners and the like
• Do not tumble dry or dry clean

Measurements are taken flat. Length is measured from the side neck point to the front hem. There may be slight differences between the stated size and the actual product.
