An exquisitely thin 14mm. A zero-drop shoe that pairs a barefoot feel with protection.

"I want to walk and run with a feeling close to barefoot—but the impact of asphalt is rough." Here's the 14mm answer to that wish.

Topo Athletic's "ST-6" chases minimalism while keeping just enough "give" to handle today's hard road surfaces.

A fusion of "barefoot feel" and Topo's proprietary ZipFoam™. The sole is a mere 14mm thick—thin enough to read the ground's bumps and slopes directly through your soles. That thinness usually comes at the cost of cushioning, but the ST-6 uses Topo's proprietary ZipFoam™ in the midsole.

What ZipFoam™ brings: More resilient and durable than typical EVA, ZipFoam™ lets a thin sole firmly absorb and disperse landing impact. "You feel the ground, yet the jolt stays mild." That fine balance lets you enjoy a natural, pain-free stride while lowering the risk of injury.

Why choose the ST-6: its contrast in feel.

  1. A locked-in heel and midfoot: a wide forefoot alone lets the foot slide inside. The ST-6 cinches firmly around the heel and instep, so foot and shoe move as one whether you run or walk.

  2. Toes set free: in contrast to the held-down rear half, the toe area is remarkably free. You can splay your toes wide to grip the ground, drawing out your natural sense of balance.

Where they shine

  • Natural road running: when you want to recover the ground-contact feel dulled by thick-soled shoes, or for form-correcting jogs.

  • Walking and everyday wear: the simple design and relaxed toe feel also suit long hours on your feet and walking.

Main specifications

  • 14mm stack height: just the right thickness to relay ground information to your soles while shielding them from pebbles and hard surfaces.

  • ZipFoam™ midsole: a proprietary material that resists flattening and stays springy, holding its cushioning even after long use.

  • 0mm drop: a flat build with no height gap between heel and toe, supporting your body's natural posture and weight transfer.

  • Collapsible Heel: a soft build with the heel counter removed. The gentle feel against the foot also lowers the risk of blisters.

  • Weight: approx. 148g (Women's 23.5cm)

About sizing

Because the fit is designed to be snug, we recommend going up 0.5cm from your usual size if you wear thick socks or prefer more room.

About stock

Inventory is shared between our physical store and the online store, so an item may become out of stock after you place an order. If that happens, we will contact you promptly. Thank you for your understanding.

There's a reason a shop that isn't a running store stocked a road running shoe.

I've loved the previous model and put a lot of miles on it. From that experience, this version's balance of softness and stack feels just about ideal. Here are the points I've noticed, from running to daily use.

It's a low-stack shoe, but the small amount of cushion from ZipFoam™ is spot on, ideal for feeling the ground and thinking about form. Personally I think it's good to rotate shoes of different stack heights for easy runs: different thickness and softness spread the load and stimulus across different muscles. I recommend slipping these in between runs in maximal shoes.

Shoes that are too thin get tiring to walk in, but the ST-6 has enough cushion to work for commuting and standing all day in the shop. As a walking shoe it balances a barefoot feel with low fatigue very well.

It's handy for the gym and for carrying: it slips into a bag easily, so it's great for a run while out and about or the gym after work.

On sizing: like the previous model, the heel hold is good. The arch is deliberately snug, so the fit is very secure, but if you want more room or dislike a tight midfoot, consider going up half a size.
