125g of active insulation, built to keep moving
The Goldwin Kel Light Crew is a lightweight insulation piece made for high-output days in the mountains, including trail running.
It uses Polartec® Alpha® Direct 60, an insulation that holds warmth while staying highly breathable. The fabric construction also changes by body zone, separating the roles of the front, where you want to block chill, and the back, where you want heat to escape.
Weight is roughly 125g in size 3. Rather than a jacket you pull on once you stop and get cold, it is designed as a mid layer for the hours you keep running, climbing and hiking in low temperatures.
The back is single-layer Alpha Direct 60, so heat can escape
The back body is a single layer of Polartec® Alpha® Direct 60. It prioritises airflow so heat and moisture do not build up while you are carrying a pack or working hard.
Polartec® Alpha® is not built purely to trap heat the way conventional insulation is. It holds the warmth you need while letting moisture move out of the garment, dries quickly after you sweat, and keeps its loft.
A light woven face where the wind hits
Across the front body, shoulders and outer arms, a lightweight nylon woven fabric is layered over the Alpha Direct.
When you take wind head-on while running or on an exposed ridge, a sweat-damp body chills fast. The Kel Light Crew adds that outer layer at the front to reduce wind chill across the stomach, while leaving the back open for breathability.
Instead of wrapping everything in windproof fabric, it separates the places you do not want to cool from the places you want to vent, balancing warmth and airflow while you move.
Simpler where your arms swing
From the underarm down the inside of the sleeve, the construction drops to a single layer of light woven fabric for freedom of movement.
Side panels combined with raglan sleeves give a pattern that follows arm swing while running and bigger reaches on steep ground.
Thumbholes at the cuffs let you cover the backs of your hands when you want to. The neckline, cuffs and hem are finished with stretch binding, which also makes it easy to pull on and off.
Minimal enough to skip pockets
The Kel Light Crew has no pockets. Rather than adding storage, it keeps only what an insulation layer worn on the move actually needs.
At around 125g it is easy to carry in a pack when you are not wearing it, which makes it easy to add as a temperature-regulating layer for shoulder seasons, cold mornings and evenings, or days with big elevation change.
A mesh stuff sack is included, so it packs down small after use.
From trail running to hiking
In trail running you can be hot while moving, then chill suddenly when the pace drops or the wind picks up. A heavy insulated jacket is too warm, but a thin base layer alone leaves you cold. The Kel Light Crew is built for exactly that swing in output.
Beyond running, it also fits fast hiking and any activity where you want to stay warm but still let heat out.
