We rarely have the opportunity to be aware of how our feet work during walking or running. The better the cushioning and support of a shoe, the more that role is entrusted to the shoe itself.
While this provides comfort, it can also hinder the natural function of the foot. The Trail Glove 8 is designed to help your feet naturally utilize their functions again, from such a state.
Why the barefoot concept?
Merrell's barefoot line is not intended to replicate bare feet. Its purpose is to bring out the foot's natural functions, such as underfoot sensation and toe movement, through a simple structure.
Sensing ground information appropriately and balancing with your own body. The fundamental idea behind this category is to achieve this state effortlessly.
Designed not to strip everything away
However, modern environments primarily feature hard paved surfaces. Using an extremely thin sole in such conditions can place a significant burden on the feet. The Trail Glove 8 is designed with this in mind.
With a stack height of approximately 14mm and a 0mm drop, it maintains a natural posture while the FloatPro foam gently absorbs impact.
It keeps the foot close to the ground while mitigating excessive stress. This balance makes it suitable for use from everyday life to outdoor activities.
Structure that doesn't impede foot movement
The Barefoot 2 construction allows the foot to rest in a natural position, making it easy to use the toes. On uneven terrain, however, the foot can become unstable, so stability is ensured with TPU overlays and an external rear sling structure.
The parts that allow free movement and the parts that provide support are clearly designed and separated.
Difference from Vapor Glove
While the Vapor Glove is a model that aims to enhance underfoot sensation with the simplest possible structure, the Trail Glove 8 makes that sensation easier to handle in daily life.
It's an easy choice for those who want to re-evaluate their foot usage but wish to avoid drastic changes.
