An ultralight liner glove built for shoulder-season days

The STATIC ADRIFT WORK GLOVE is a liner glove that balances temperature regulation with dexterity while you are moving. The fabric is ultralight Octa®CPCP®, which combines light weight and warmth with breathability that keeps heat from building up. Synthetic leather across the palm improves grip, making it easier to work trekking poles, place your hands on rock, or open and close zips. At around 38 g per pair in size M they are light enough to carry on shoulder-season outings, and thin enough to layer inside shell gloves.

Synthetic-leather palm for dependable grip

The palm uses synthetic leather. It lets you hold on firmly even when fabric-on-fabric would slip, which helps with poles, bottles and handling a phone.

Nose wipe at the base of the thumb

The nose wipe positioned at the base of the thumb is useful when you want to quickly wipe away sweat or moisture on the move. It feels soft against the skin and can be used without stopping.

Soft fleece at the wrist

The wrist section is a soft fleece material. It sits neatly under a cuff and is finished so that it stays comfortable against bare skin.

Carabiner loop

A loop is fitted for keeping the pair together or carrying them temporarily while you move. It also works for preventing loss and for hanging them up to dry.

What Octa®CPCP® does on the hand

Octa®CPCP® is a mesh fleece in which TEIJIN's brushed hollow polyester fibres with a shaped cross-section are bonded to a mesh face. Dead air created by the hollow cores and the projections provides insulation, while the mesh structure helps heat escape, so the gloves feel less clammy while you are moving and less cold when you stop. They are notably light, and the light weight is easy to feel compared with conventional polyester fibres of the same diameter. The fabric also wicks and dries quickly, which suits the rhythm of alternating between walking and resting.

The material is more commonly used as a lining inside insulated products, but STATIC uses it as a single-layer fleece. It resists bulking up against bare skin or over a thin liner, and is balanced so that it does not restrict movement when layered under shell gloves.

Environmental measures

Octa®CPCP® is made up of two kinds of polyester fibre, and roughly 53.6% of the woolly yarn among them is recycled polyester (ECOPET®), giving 53% recycled content across the fabric. Compared with the same fabric made from virgin polyester, CO2 emissions during fabric production are reduced by about 23%. Dyeing uses biomass (plant-derived) rather than petroleum-derived inputs, and the textile waste generated during fabric production is recycled. Recycled yarn is used for the labels as well, so the effort to reduce environmental impact begins at the material stage.

Choosing a size

Choose using hand circumference as your guide. Run a tape measure right around the hand, centred on the widest part of the back of the hand, passing so that the palm side of the base of the thumb accounts for two thirds and the back of the hand for one third, and take the resulting circumference in centimetres.
