At STATIC, we believe the layer against your skin should draw on the power of natural materials, using as little petroleum-derived fiber as possible. Our choice is Merino wool: it stores warmth in winter and releases heat in summer. With high moisture regulation and natural odor resistance on top of that, it's a genuinely high-performance fiber for long days—and multi-day trips—in the outdoors.
Even through the sweatier spring and summer months, it stays non-clammy and never invites a chill. The answer we reached was our unique "ALL ELEVATION fabric," a blend of Merino wool and recycled polyester.
"Border Mesh," bringing together the wisdom of Bishu
Teaming up with the specialists of Bishu—Japan's revered home of wool—we evolved the fabric toward a softer, more skin-friendly feel while keeping its established function. Its defining feature is a distinctive textured "border mesh structure."
"Recessed" zones release heat: the thinly knitted areas boost breathability and quickly expel excess heat while you move.
"Raised" zones wick and warm: the raised areas against your skin quickly draw sweat away, preventing sweat-chill at rest while holding in moderate warmth.
Layering, any way you like: worn alone it breathes beautifully; add a windshell and it becomes an insulating layer that traps dead air. As a base layer or on its own, it's a year-round essential.
Shrink-proofing that stands by the environment, your skin, and people
We've poured STATIC's philosophy into the process that keeps wool from shrinking, too. We use a chlorine-free, resin-free anti-shrink treatment.
Unlike conventional processes, it leaves the wool's natural "scales" intact, converting the hydrophobic scales to hydrophilic. Bonding hybrid collagen to them keeps the fibers from interlocking.
Function left intact: keeping the scales that govern wool's moisture regulation preserves its natural balancing ability in the finished product.
A pure feel on skin: with no resin coating, what touches your skin is the texture of the wool itself.
A sustainable workplace: "Because we don't use chlorine, it's safer for our own health on the line"—the artisan's words are an important part of this product's story.
