The milestone "Cloud Half-Zip" builds on the thinking behind the Cloud Hoody, made for winter trail running and fastpacking, and raises its lightness and breathability to meet higher levels of effort. The body is Polartec® Alpha Direct 60, combined with the venting of a deep half-zip. It is intended for trail racing and for faster-paced road running alike.
Polartec® Alpha Direct 60
The body uses Polartec® Alpha Direct 60. Using a fabric lighter than the Alpha Direct 90 of the Cloud Hoody raises breathability while keeping the warmth you need.
Weights are XS 98g, S 106g, M 115g, L 122g, XL 131g. At 115g in size M, it is easy to keep carried weight down for a piece of winter running kit.
A deep half-zip to control venting
The front opens deep in a half-zip. When you are generating more heat on a climb or a surge in pace, you can open the zip to adjust how much air moves through.
It is a detail meant for adjusting temperature while the garment stays on, rather than only taking an insulating layer on and off.
Watch window and thumbholes
The watch window and thumbholes carry over from the Cloud Hoody. You can check a running watch without pushing the sleeve well up, and the thumbholes let you keep the wrists covered.
How it differs from the Cloud Hoody
The Cloud Hoody is a hooded model in Polartec® Alpha Direct 90, 191g in size M. The Cloud Half-Zip uses Alpha Direct 60 in a hoodless half-zip, 115g in size M. Where the Cloud Hoody is intended for winter trail running and fastpacking, the Cloud Half-Zip also looks to higher-intensity racing and faster-paced road running.
Where the name comes from
The "Cloud" name comes from Marvin Gaye's "Cloud Nine". It draws on the image of a cumulonimbus rising to great height, and on the phrase for the elated feeling of being up on a cloud.
