These short trail running socks are comfortable and durable.

The shoes feature a wool core that's comfortable against the skin and moisture-regulating, and a hybrid spun yarn made with durable CORDURA nylon. The arch support structure reduces stress while running, and the heel lock reduces heel slippage, improving stability during landing and running. The toe and heel are made with cushioned pile. The sole features a dotted pile knit for breathability and cushioning.

The North Face's proprietary antibacterial and deodorizing treatment, "DEORANGE," inhibits the growth of bacteria on the fabric, reducing odor. It also features a deodorizing function that absorbs odors in the air. This item was developed based on feedback from The North Face athletes.

I love wearing these for trail running races and long training sessions, and I have no hesitation in wearing them for ultra-long distance competition races (for regular short distances I sometimes choose shoes based on the pattern, but when I'm serious these are my only choice).

I use the shorter one for practice and the longer one for racing.

These socks meet all the criteria I want in performance socks. My number one criteria is "not having to worry about the socks." As with underwear, the most important thing is that they feel comfortable when worn.

First of all, the dotted pile makes them not too thick, and the wool blend means they don't get stuffy. I don't like socks that are too tight and prefer a less tight fit, but I also don't like socks that are too loose and cause my feet to slip around inside. These socks have just the right amount of arch support and heel lock, so they're not too tight but stay in place, and there's absolutely no discomfort when wearing them. What's more, it can be a real downer if there's an unpleasant smell when changing into a drop bag, but these socks are highly odor-resistant and don't release that smell, which is great. They're also durable enough to withstand hard use without tearing, so they won't cause any stress on your feet during long-distance trail runs.

In 2025, I had no problems with my feet at either the Shinetsu Gogaku 100 Mile or the Lake Biwa 100, probably thanks to these socks. Socks alone are not the deciding factor, so other foot care is also necessary for long distances, but these socks are definitely ones I can use with confidence.
