The brand's signature model that embodies that philosophy, the "Terraventure," has evolved into its fifth generation.

■ Roomy Toe Box (open toes, locked heel) What sets it apart from many wide shoes is its last (foot-shape) design. The toes get a "Roomy Toe Box" where they can splay freely and grip the ground, while the midfoot through heel is cinched into a secure fit. This "free toes, locked heel" structure prevents trouble from the foot shifting on the trail and preserves that one-with-your-shoe feel even on technical ground.

■ 3mm Drop (natural posture with a touch of support) Rather than fully flat (0mm drop), it carries a deliberate 3mm of incline—a figure meant to encourage the body's natural posture while lightly supporting the Achilles tendon and calf. The naturalness of "almost barefoot" and the support of a real shoe: that exquisite middle ground is why so many people take to it without any sense of unease.

■ Protection & Ground Feel (seeing through your soles) A flexible rock plate is built into the forefoot, protecting against jabs from sharp rocks and stones. But it isn't rigid armor. • The water-friendly "FKT Insole": the newly adopted closed-cell bead foam resists absorbing water. Even soaked by rain or a stream crossing, it drains quickly to prevent foot trouble.
  
  
  

• Improved durability: the upper uses lightweight, breathable mesh, with all-around (360°) reinforcement across its lower section. It resists abrasion on rock while staying breathable and durable.
