Introduction

Since I started making gear, I've been making several different types of shoulder bags, sacoche bags, and other packs that are worn on the shoulder with a strap.

"Too short for a belt, too long for a sash"

It's difficult to make something that is satisfactory in every respect. I think I'll continue making these "shoulder" items from now on. But, at the moment, this "Tri Pack" is packed with all the shapes, sizes, and functions that I want to make.

As the name "Tri" suggests, it features three storage compartments and three different ways of use.

Three storage compartments

The front mesh pocket is designed for high visibility. It is recommended for storing items that you want to be able to see and access quickly, such as wet towels or hand towels.

The inside has a separate pocket in addition to the main pocket, so you can divide the inside.
It also has a built-in hook to keep your keys and wallet attached.

Three ways to use it

1.As a shoulder pack.

2.As a waist pouch.

3. As a front pack

If you use it as a front pack, please use a commercially available carabiner. The carabiner in the image is the "NITE IZE - Slide Lock Carabiner #2".
Pass it through the tape on the chest part of the shoulder harness and use it in the position you prefer.

The image above is an example of storage items.
It has enough capacity to store items you need while on the move, such as a wind shell, map, 500ml plastic bottle, towel, keys, gels, snacks, wallet, compact camera, lipstick, earphones, and a headlamp.

If you pack it nicely it will look like a lunch box.

A 500ml plastic bottle can be stored upside down without any problems.

Collaborator

Collaborateur introduces you to the people who produce these products.

Kiwada Masaaki Shoten Co., Ltd. produces the RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEAR backpack "One Mile."

Kiwada Masaaki Shoten Co., Ltd. is located in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan's largest bag production area.
There are over 180 bag-related companies in Toyooka city. Kiwada Masaaki Shoten Co., Ltd. is a bag factory founded in 1959 in an area of Toyooka known as the "Bag Complex."

Kiwada Masaaki Shoten is a factory that produces around 100 Toyooka bags, a local brand.

What is Toyooka Bags?

This brand has been designated as a regional brand by the Japan Patent Office and undergoes rigorous screening, during which Kiwada Masaaki Shoten Co., Ltd. has passed approximately 100 products. This means that they are confident in the quality of their bags. The screening process includes 14 items such as: are there any scratches on the leather? Is the thread tension good? Is it reinforced? If the bag does not pass all 14 items, it will not be recognized as a Toyooka bag.

In this way, RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEAR products are produced by factories that specialize in each field.

I think it is extremely valuable to be able to share even a little of the technology, experience, and knowledge that the factory has cultivated over many years in making their products with me to help me make the product I want to make.

When cutting each part, we create a mold like the one in the image above.

The fabric and mold are placed into a large press machine and then pressed and cut using a mold.

Small parts and special materials that cannot be made using molds are cut using CAM (automated cutting machine).

A very large computerized sewing machine. It is possible to input sewing patterns in advance, preventing any inconsistencies caused by the person sewing.

For example, if you input information like how many times to drop the needle on a 2cm wide piece of tape and how many times to make the needle go back and forth beforehand, it will sew neatly without any blurring.

"Arm sewing machine" is suitable for sewing large tubular products such as the bottom parts of backpacks.

1959: Kiwada Masaaki Shoten was founded.
1967: Kiwada Masaaki Shoten Co., Ltd. was established.
2001: Established sales company TFP Corporation (wholly owned subsidiary).
In 2003, Tomonari Kiwada became the company's representative director.
In 2006, we became the first company to be certified with the regional collective trademark "Toyooka Bags®."
In 2017, the company absorbed TFP Corporation.

Our company does not end with "making and selling," but instead imagines the customers who will own the bags and strives to produce bags that they will love and use for a long time. We also keep a spirit of inquiry and proactively challenge ourselves to do new things by breaking down common sense and preconceived notions in the industry.
We have a large stock of bags that have been granted the regional collective trademark "Toyooka Bags®." "Toyooka Bags®" is beginning to attract attention not only from within Japan, but also from overseas. We hope to work together with Toyooka bag companies both domestically and internationally to spread the "Toyooka Bags®" brand name.
In addition, our company also supports the SDGs as "our sustainability" and is working on them little by little. We plan to increase the number of bags with the SDGs theme in the future, such as producing bags using artificial leather made from recycled PET.

Attention

The fabric used is waterproof. It will prevent water from entering if it is only a light rain, but if it is exposed to heavy rain for a long time, water may enter through the stitching. It is not completely waterproof. If you have luggage that you do not want to get wet, please prepare a pack liner separately and put it in a completely waterproof pack before storing it.

If the surface becomes dirty, wipe it with a damp cloth. We do not recommend washing this product. Even washing without detergent can affect the peeling of the fabric.
However, we do not recommend storing it while it is dirty with sweat. If you are concerned about odors, remove the pad stored on the back and gently hand wash it in water without detergent.
