It is extremely comfortable to wear and wraps you in gentle warmth.
While using natural materials in outdoor wear, we discovered that yak has a wonderful quality that is different from sheep's wool.
Yak natural hair is highly rare and is not mass-produced like sheep's wool.
From among these, STATIC chose the one from Tibet.
Yak hair, which lives in more mountainous areas, should match our outdoor tendencies.
This intuitive encounter resulted in a lightweight, functional product.
Unlike sheep, which have undergone much breeding since the Industrial Revolution, yaks are primitive bovine animals that originated in Tibet.
Yaks live in alpine grasslands at altitudes of 3,000 to 6,000 meters in places like Tibet and Nepal all year round, and are active below the snow line in winter. Yaks are said to be a species with excellent cold resistance. In order to survive the long winter, they grow downy hair as winter approaches and shed it in spring.
Nomads collect these, wash them, and turn them into high-quality raw materials. Recently, they are carefully combed by hand, just like cashmere. This method is ethical because, unlike sheep, it does not require shearing the entire body of the sheep, and there is no need for mulesing.
Yak down can be harvested every year, but only about 100g to 300g can be obtained from one adult yak. Compared to sheep's wool, which weighs about 4kg, this is a very rare type of hair. The Tibetan yak hair used by STATIC is harvested at a rate of about 100g from each yak. The amount harvested is limited so as not to over-harvest and to avoid stressing the yak.
*Mulesing is the practice of removing the skin and flesh from a lamb's genitals to prevent maggot infestation.
- Very soft and gentle to the touch
- High elasticity and wrinkle resistance
Please enjoy your knitwear by following the correct care instructions so that you can enjoy it for a long time.
- If the thread gets caught and comes loose, do not cut it but use a thin stick to push the thread back inside the product (we recommend using a repair needle).
- It's fine to wear it with normal clothes, but please be careful when wearing it with something with thick, stiff fibers, such as a blanket, as the fibers may get tangled and pull against each other, which may cause the yak fibers to come off.
- In the off-season, store it folded in a well-ventilated place with insect repellent.
- Mocha and Natural (YAK Liner) are not dyed, but rather use the natural color of the yak hair. This has many benefits, such as no CO2 emissions during dyeing, no chemical dyes, and no water. However, STATIC also offers dyed color variations so that you can enjoy the colors.
- Non-mulesing: Since the wool used is naturally shed, there is no need to mulege like with sheep, making it gentler on the animals.
- We use eco-friendly labels as well.
- Washing tag: 100% cotton lawn
- Brand tag: 50% or more recycled polyester
