Each original boat and tote bag is handmade in our own factory in Maine, USA.
The Beans Ice Carrier, which was created to transport ice blocks, is the origin of the current Boat and Tote® Bag. Since 1944, each piece has been handcrafted at LLBean's own factory in Brunswick, Maine, USA.
To prevent water from seeping out immediately even when the ice melts, we use the same thick 24 oz canvas material that we have used since then. The sturdy construction and simple design are the reasons why it continues to be loved to this day.
