Handmade fire tools born from the dedication of those who love the campfire

TAKIBISM is a brand that began when Hajime Samukawa—an outdoor life advisor whose life's work is the campfire—teamed up with Noboru Makizuka of Makizuka Ironworks, an iron artisan, to give shape to the fire tools Samukawa was after. Each tool is crafted one by one with care, packed with the ideas and clever touches that only true campfire lovers could dream up, resulting in playful, characterful pieces. Alongside Makizuka Ironworks in Takamatsu City, TAKIBISM's products are made by highly skilled partner workshops around the Setouchi (Seto Inland Sea) region. When a devotion to the campfire meets Japanese craftsmanship, the finest fire tools are born.

The fried rice that captivates so many—now outdoors

Fried rice is a curious thing. The motion of tossing the pan, the sound of the ladle scraping, the loose, fluffy grains dancing on iron over high heat—there's a kind of magic in it that never stops drawing people in. Everyone has their own non-negotiable preferences, and the methods and seasonings vary endlessly. Makizuka Ironworks' hugely popular Chinese pan was updated for the outdoors and developed as a pan made just for campfire fried rice. Its slightly compact size is easy to handle when cooking that irresistible fried rice outdoors and is well suited to single servings, so you can enjoy it on a solo camp, or show off each other's flavors in a group—there's plenty of ways to have fun with it. Its size and heft are just right for swinging one-handed over the fire, and there's a handy hook at the tip for hanging. The base carries the TAKIBISM stamp, and the bottom is flat so it sits stably.

At home or outdoors. Genuine accessories that widen the joy of fried rice

Though it's a pan made for campfire fried rice, it's versatile beyond stir-frying—simmering, searing, steaming—and with just the Chinese pan and a ladle you can enjoy it at home, too.
① Booster
Made of stainless steel that shrugs off direct flame, it fits every size of TAKIBISM's "JIKABI" fire stand. Air drawn in through the many holes in the stainless plate escapes upward to create a chimney effect, ramping the heat up fast. That gives you the strong flame essential to fried rice.
② Ladle (O-TAMA)
Like the Chinese pan, its compact size suits the curve of the pan. The handle is black walnut, for a rugged yet warm design. You can also build a tool hanger with the Multi-Long Pegs and add a hook to hang the Chinese pan, or combine it with other brands carried by UPI.

Why Makizuka Ironworks cookware makes everything taste better

They say food just tastes better outdoors, but iron cookware, with its high thermal conductivity, brings real advantages of its own. And Makizuka Ironworks' cooking pieces skip the fussy seasoning normally needed before first use.

  • Good heat conduction and excellent heat retention spread warmth evenly, cooking food evenly and deliciously.
  • With every use the oil works in, so you can raise it into a lifelong pan that lasts for decades—generations, even.
  • Unlike Teflon-coated pans, it's highly durable and can take rough handling.
  • Being iron, it even adds a little iron to your diet.
