Recovery shoes OOFOS have gained tremendous popularity among runners and trail runners. Unlike ordinary shoes that repel the force of contact with the ground, it is designed to absorb the force of contact and reduce the impact on the knees, hips and back.

OOFOS should also be effective for climbers who overwork their backs while climbing, and who receive impact on their knees and hips when landing on a fall or mat. In particular, the outer rocks always require an approach to the area, so even before and after climbing, my whole body is tired. I actually tried wearing it when I was in Sotoiwa Boulder.

This time, I tried OOFOS at Mukogawa Boulder in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture. Park the car until you reach an area with a large rock called Hawaiian Rock, and walk for about 5 minutes on the paved road. The approach is fairly short, but you have to climb down the stone walls of the embankment to get down along the river.
If it's up and down like this, I could do it with OOFOS without any problems. Sole friction is pretty good.

I thought that OOFOS would be slippery because the rocks that were polished by the water flow were rolling around the Hawaiian rocks, but it was fine.

The feeling of freedom when you take off your climbing shoes and put on OOFOS is the best. You can see that the footbed is chewy and absorbs the shock when walking. Even when I jumped down from a big rock, I felt less impact on my feet than with approach shoes.

It is quite comfortable when approaching a well-maintained road, resting on rocks, or driving to an area. I was able to relax from start to finish with a feeling of openness and comfortable to wear.

On the other hand, it seems that you need to get used to the unmaintained approach and walking on large stones when moving between areas. It seems better to bring approach shoes separately from OOFOS.

For those who usually wear Crocs sandals when approaching or resting, OOFOS is highly recommended because you can take care of your body without changing the feeling of use.

To be honest, in terms of recovery, I don't overwork my legs as much as runners or trail runners, so I didn't feel the benefits of OOFOS. However, I think that the comfort during commuting and resting depends on how good the climb is. Please use OOFOS to enjoy Sotoiwa Boulder to the fullest.
