NEMO Dragonfly OSMO™ 1P

A one-person tent that combines a 1kg minimum weight with headroom and freestanding ease

The NEMO Dragonfly OSMO™ 1P is a freestanding one-person tent with a minimum weight of 1.0kg. Instead of narrowing the interior in pursuit of weight alone, the crossbar and hub structure has been revised to widen the space near the ceiling. A 1.9㎡ floor area, 100cm interior height and 0.8㎡ vestibule make it easy to separate the sleeping space from where you put your gear.

The fly and floor use NEMO's own OSMO™ ripstop, which holds down stretch when the fabric gets wet and helps keep the pitch taut. DIAPOLE™ recycled aluminum poles, Elements™ hardware, the Precurve™ system and Axial™ Lite corner anchors update the parts that support pitching and livability alongside it.

Elements™ hardware holds the crossbar facing upward

Elements™ is a forged aluminum hub that angles the left and right wings of the crossbar upward from the start. Where normally only the area near the peak of the poles rises, supporting the crossbar high widens the ceiling plane.

The Precurve™ system then uses a crossbar that is pre-bent, bringing the ceiling closer to level. By NEMO's published figures, the combination increases headroom volume by 34%. Headroom is easy to find even when you sit slightly off center, letting you use the limited floor area of a one-person tent in three dimensions.

DIAPOLE™ recycled aluminum poles form the frame

The main frame uses DIAPOLE™ recycled aluminum poles. A hub structure and pre-bending combine to raise not only the upper walls but the walls at the foot end. Without increasing the floor area figure, the interior shape keeps your body and sleeping bag from crowding the walls when you lie down.

At pitch, the poles and webbing are color coded so the matching positions are easy to read. The fly attaches with Axial™ Lite corner anchors, simplifying the connection with light parts.

OSMO™ fabric holds down stretch when wet

OSMO™, used for the fly and floor, is NEMO's own ripstop combining nylon and polyester. It uses 100% recycled material, contains no PFAS and adds no flame retardants.

By NEMO's published figures, it is 20% stronger than typical tent fabric and holds stretch when wet to one third that of the previous material. Because the fly sags less when it takes on water in rain or high humidity, the tension set at pitch is easier to keep, as is the gap between fly and inner.

Its water repellency also starts high, lasts four times longer, and in durability testing holds its performance five times as long. Taking on less water also shortens drying time and holds down the water weight you carry when you pack up wet.

A single-seam bathtub floor and high hydrolysis resistance

OSMO™ is also made with hydrolysis resistance in mind, a material that slows the coating degradation caused by moisture and time. The floor uses a single-seam bathtub construction, reducing the number of stitched sections low down where water gets in.

The fly and floor use solution-dyed yarn and bluesign® approved fabric. Choosing materials on the basis of dyeing processes and chemical use as well as performance is part of what defines the Dragonfly OSMO™.

A door that opens high and a 0.8㎡ vestibule

The entry is shaped to open high, and the Gatekeeper™ tieback gathers the open door. The 1P has a 0.8㎡ vestibule, so shoes, packs and anything else you would rather keep out of the sleeping space can go under the fly outside the tent.

Landing Zone™ is a removable waterproof storage tub that fits in the vestibule. It keeps small items you would rather not set on bare ground away from mud and wet. Rather than covering the whole vestibule floor, it works as an independent tray for the gear you want to keep dry.

Nightlight Pocket™ and interior storage

Putting a headlamp into the Nightlight Pocket™ at the ceiling diffuses the light and turns it into interior lighting. It is a pocket for spreading light through the tent while holding down the glare of looking straight at the source.

An integrated gear loft and a large storage pocket let you organize a headlamp, glasses, a phone and other small items off the floor. It is a layout that keeps the limited 1P floor for sleeping and moves light items up and onto the walls.

Protected strut vents to keep air moving

Above the zipper flap sits a vent held open by a strut. It keeps a ventilation opening even in rain, letting the moisture generated inside escape. Combined with the mesh inner, it creates the airflow that holds down condensation.

A Divvy Cube™ stuff sack that packs easily

It packs into a rectangular Divvy Cube™ stuff sack. The shape sits into the gaps inside a backpack more readily than a cylinder, and keeps loads organized when the tent body and poles are carried separately. It considers how the tent sits when carried, not only the weight figure.
