The latest model, the OLYMPUS 275 , retains the signature superior comfort while incorporating the latest materials throughout, creating a shoe with unwavering reliability that can tackle even harsher environments without hesitation.

Why was the number " 275 " given to Olympus? The answer goes back to the very beginning of ALTRA .
Founders Golden and Brian were working at the running shop run by Golden's father at the time. There, they witnessed the injuries many runners were experiencing and began to suspect that the cause could be in the structure of their shoes. Convinced that the difference in height (drop) between the heel and toe was causing unnatural running form, they embarked on an unprecedented attempt: heating shoes in their home oven and melting the midsole to modify them into a zero-drop shoe. At that time, the midsole reached the ideal softness, and the temperature that made the modification possible was 275 degrees Fahrenheit.

At the time, the concept of zero drop did not exist on the market, nor was there a clear need for it. However, they stuck to their beliefs and created an innovative shoe that overturned conventional wisdom in order to reduce runner injuries.
The name " OLYMPUS 275 " is more than just a number. It is proof that ALTRA 's brand philosophy embodies itself: to pursue innovation that we believe in, rather than follow market trends.

The upper is made of Matryx® material, a combination of tough Kevlar® fiber and high-strength polyamide. It is woven three-dimensionally in a one-piece construction to minimize seams that could be weak points, resulting in a high-quality fit and exceptional durability that can withstand the harshest of trails.

The mesh fabric is also highly breathable and quick-drying, and has the flexibility to follow the natural movement of your feet.

The 33mm of generous cushioning, which is part of OLYMPUS ' DNA , and the Vibram® Megagrip outsole grip any surface.

Based on that absolute sense of security, this model uses a Matryx® upper and a streamlined design, adding a new part called a scree sleeve, making it lighter than the standard model.
