The flagship line from Merrell Test Lab. brings together the brand's technologies. Ultra-lightweight, highly functional trail running shoes that deliver maximum performance in short, short-distance trail races such as speed races and uphill races .
Inheriting the sole unit of the ultra-lightweight flagship model "MTL SKYFIRE 2" that caused a sensation in the skyrunning world in 2023 (sole thickness only + 1mm thicker), and by covering the upper with "MATRYX®", which boasts high durability, it highlights the overwhelming lightness, breathability, and grip without worrying about the durability of the upper even in rugged field conditions, allowing for a more aggressive and aggressive running style.
Merrell Test Lab.'s mission is to "enable athletes around the world to perform at their best in mountain sports and outdoor activities" through product development, and continues to innovate and evolve MERRELL's performance technology. The product development process involves thorough feedback from MERRELL's globally contracted elite athletes, and embodies the functionality and comfort that athletes actually need. *MERRELL has supported the world's premier world series, the SKYRUNNER® WORLD SERIES, as an official partner since 2020 and as a title partner from 2024, and is promoting contracts with the world's elite runners and joint development of shoes. In Japan, it has also entered into a partnership with the Japan Skyrunning Association (JSA) from 2022 to promote the spread of "skyrunning," which inherits the culture of mountain climbing competitions and fast climbing, as well as product development and support for athletes.

■ MATRYX® upper [+TPU reinforcement]
The upper is made of a tough multifilament of Kevlar fiber and high-strength polyamide. It boasts excellent abrasion resistance and suppresses stretching, ensuring the durability and stability of the upper. By using MATRYX® as a base, it was possible to review the upper pattern, which resulted in successfully reducing the number of overlay parts. ■ BZM-8 Lock Plate & FLEXPLATE™
The plate is made from BZM-8 (glass fiber reinforced polyamide), which is highly rigid and fatigue resistant. Its excellent rigidity improves performance when stepping on the ground, suppresses twisting of the shoe, stabilizes the sole of the foot, and protects the foot from impact with the ground.
■ FLOATPRO™ foam two-layer midsole
A sustainable EVA foam that has excellent cushioning and resilience, and is lightweight and durable (functional sustainability). To reduce the burden on the environment, it is made using a "waste-free manufacturing process" and is made from TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) material, which is easier to recycle. It is used in the midsole in a two-layer structure that sandwiches the BMZ-8 rock plate.
■ Vibram MEGAGRIP outsole
This is one of the best high performance compound grips from Vibram, a world-renowned Italian sole manufacturer. It provides overwhelming grip on wet roads and rugged terrain. We paid particular attention to the lug pattern and lug depth (5mm), which affect grip on the field, and reduced the rubber area to the maximum extent possible to reduce weight.
