I often use it alone for low mountain hikes in the cold season and trail running in the middle of winter.
In fact, this was the basic wear ring for the Ishibutai 100 snow trail running race in January 2023. When the wind got stronger and at night, I was able to continue moving comfortably by layering wind shells and Alpha Direct.
To make the most of the characteristics of the fabric, it feels good to wear it directly as the first layer, but I don't think that's possible, so we recommend wearing it on top of a dry layer.
Active insulation such as AlphaDirect and Octa are good, but Tilak's MERA HOODED is more comfortable to use in seasons when it's too cold or on windy days. If it gets even colder, I layer Alpha Direct on top of this.
