Foot Shape Design

ALTRA's unique "last" design for men and women was devised by kinesiology experts who adopted various latest research results to realize natural running. The inspiration was taken from the human "foot" itself. By allowing the toes to naturally spread and relax, you can achieve the best balance and stability, and also improve the ability to absorb shock when landing.
Strong feet, lower legs and thighs are your greatest weapon in reducing the risk of running injuries.
The biggest enemy of marathons and jogging, which are becoming popular as lifelong sports, is running injuries. In order to continue enjoying "running" forever, please try running in a "natural way."
Natural Foot Structure

Here, the term "barefoot" is defined as the foot in its natural state. The literal translation of "barefoot" is "natural foot." "Natural foot" refers to the most efficient foot structure for "standing upright," "walking," and "running," which humans acquired in the process of acquiring bipedal walking.
The three arches are the most important natural structure of the foot.
- Medial longitudinal arch = the largest longitudinal arch on the inside of the foot
- Lateral longitudinal arch = outer arch of the plantar
- Transverse arch = forefoot arch
The three arch structures mentioned above perform the important functions of the foot - (1) absorption, (2) rebound, and (3) stability - which allow us to stand, walk, and run efficiently.
To make the most of this function, Altra has designed the toe area to be roomy, with the lateral arch sinking in to absorb shock when the forefoot hits the ground, allowing the toes to spread out.
