The Trans Japan Alps Race (TJAR) is said to be the toughest mountain race in Japan. It is an extreme race that runs about 415km from the Sea of Japan in Uozu, Toyama Prefecture, across the Japanese Alps, to the Pacific Ocean at Ohama Beach in Shizuoka City, with a time limit of 8 days. Ryo Doi won the TJAR for the first time, setting a new race record of "4 days, 17 hours and 33 minutes."
The winner of the TJAR is often called the "champion." In the world of mountaineering, where multiple skills are required, it is a word that is rarely used, but it is called so. It is a sign of respect for someone who possesses a different kind of strength that cannot be measured by mountaineering skills, experience, physical strength, or running ability alone. And in the summer of 2024, Doi finished in first place, achieving his second victory.
He has achieved remarkable results in famous races both in Japan and abroad, and is now known as a "mountain frontrunner," but there were many difficulties he faced on his way to the top. How did he face and overcome them?
And now that he has reached the top, what has he gained from trail running?
 The next goal is...
This is a long-awaited book on Doi Ryo, written by an author who has been watching Doi's challenges from the sidelines.
A book that delves into the essence of athletes.
