A pop-up for STOMP LOX's barefoot shoes, "Trail Worm," will be held at ROCK STEPPERS from March 7th to March 15th, 2026!

During this period, we will have samples available in all sizes from 24.0cm to 31.0cm, so you can actually experience how comfortable they are to wear.

I personally wear the Trail Worm on a daily basis and really love it.

"When playing in nature, keep it as simple as possible. And if possible, use materials that are close to nature." This is something I've always held dear, and the Trail Worm is a shoe that truly embodies that idea.

These are barefoot shoes, without any fluffy cushioning or special support, so you feel the ground with the natural strength of your feet. They are the perfect partner for simply running or walking on Mt. Ikoma near the shop or Mt. Rokko near my home.

And the best part is that if the sole gets damaged, you can replace it. They're not high-tech, disposable shoes, but rather something you can wear until they're completely worn out, caring for and playing with, and it's a great way to enjoy them for a long time.

This signature model was created under the supervision of Ultra Romance, a charismatic cyclist and traveler.

The wide toe box and zero heel drop design allow for free movement of the sole of the foot and a comfortable fit that conforms perfectly to the unevenness of the road, allowing for natural walking and running.

Instead of high-tech chemical materials, the shoes are made from high-quality nubuck and smooth leather, and have a classic beauty that blends in with the forest and soil rather than creating a contrast with nature.

Based on STOMPLOX's philosophy of "repairing things and continuing to use them," even if the soles wear out, they can be replaced and repaired.

We were approached by ULTRA ROMANCE and asked, "Can we make barefoot shoes?" That's how we began developing this new barefoot shoe, the Trail worm ULTRA ROMANCE signature model. We failed dozens of times during the development of the sole. Simply making the sole thinner wasn't enough to achieve the barefoot feel while wearing shoes. We experimented with sole thickness down to the millimeter, creating a pattern that fits the road surface perfectly, and adjusting the last to the millimeter for balance with the upper. We made so many prototypes that we thought we might never be able to complete the design. After meticulous attention to detail, we finally completed the Trail worm, and we hope you'll love it as a pair of shoes you'll cherish for years to come.

My favorite way to connect with nature is minimal. Whether I'm underbiking hiking-heavy ATB routes or trail running through the rocky forests of New England, I love to feel all the sensations the trail has to offer. Sometimes I have to go a little slower and pay closer attention to the trail I'm deciphering, but it enhances the experience and brings me fully into the present. At those moments, I become a trailworm. I collaborated with STOMPLOX to design these barefoot shoes. They were inspired by what I wrote above. They're minimalist running shoes with a wide toe box and zero heel drop, and a sole specially designed to grip rocks and roots. They come with a removable rigid insole, so they also work well as cycling shoes. We did our best to avoid looking overly sporty and to blend in with the natural environment rather than contrasting with it. They're understated, yet perform well under the laces.
